In November 2018 i became unable to eat , due to the debilitating abdominal pain & vomiting i was getting , between December 2018 and May 2019 i was hospitalized 5 times and visited the E.R 23 times in total , i suffered months of doctors not finding what was wrong with me , lost lots of money running my business due to having to cancel out orders because I’ve become too fragile to complete them , months of unnecessary testing (radiation from repeated test), and even got my gallbladder removed because they thought this was the problem , in March a simple Doppler ultrasound showed my Celiac artery was compressed at 70% ... after all these months of being diagnosed depressed , anxious , even Anorexia , i was finally diagnosed correctly with MALS . Median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) is a condition in which the median arcuate ligament presses too tightly on the celiac artery (a major branch of the aorta that delivers blood to the stomach, liver, and other major organs) and the nerves in due to debilitating stomach pain , other symptoms include , chronic nausea , chronic vomiting, fatigue and the inability to exercise , every case is different , MALS IS NOT A G.I DISORDER, it mimics it!!!!! i lost a total of 49 POUNDS , I’ve become very fragile due to the inability to eat due to the unbearable pain , i havent had solid food since NOVEMBER ,,,,,I’ve had a NJ tube placed in my nose for feeds but I was unable to breathe or talk correctly so it was removed in hopes to get one placed through my abdominal(JTUBE) , i currently eat by drinking ensure shakes & still my body is rejecting it, even liquid hurts , MALS has debilitated me , it’s a RARE condition ... only 1 of 666 cases will develop symptoms , there aren’t many doctors who know about MALS or surgeons who want to do the surgery because it’s near the heart and pancreas , there are FIVE doctors who agree with my diagnosis but only one doctor who has a high success rate , THIS SURGEON IS NOT IN NEW YORK , And my insurance is not covering surgery OUT OF STATE, especially for something that’s rarely diagnosed or heard of because my insurance is STATE FUNDED ONLY , the doctors in NY have completely shut me out , on April 16 I was scheduled for surgery and the surgeon backed out on me because he was scared to mess up , at this point i need to raise money for my surgery , the surgery is about 37,000 in total , i know i might not raise that amount but anything helps to bring to the doctor even if i do a payment plan with him , no amount is to small , thanks in advance , god bless
