Kill Lori A Morton's Cancer Fund

Donation protected

Hi

My name is Lori Ann Morton and this is my story. First I want you to know that I have been diagnosed with stage 2b breast cancer invasive ductal adenocarcinoma. I am a mother of 3 children, ages 17, 31, and 36. I am also a grandmother of 7 grandbabies, ages 1, 3,7,7, 11,18,19 and a wife to my wonderful husband Tim.

I’ve always had an interest in taking care of the sick, especially as a child. When I was about 11, I loved to go help my mom’s mom, my grandmother, on the weekends. I went as often as my mom would let me go. I helped my grandmother and my grandfather who was bedridden, due to cancer, my mother's daddy who eventually lost his battle with cancer.

So as the story goes, I went to work helping people with illnesses or injuries and got a job helping a young man 35 years old who was a paraplegic who needed a lot of care. From that day on I knew, even more, that I wanted to make helping people a lifelong career.

Then I went on to become a Personal Care Attendant and worked in a nursing home which really opened my eyes to how many people suffer from so many different health issues. I did that for 6 years, then went on to become a CNA and worked at the Gorham House on the rehabilitation floor for almost 7 years. The rehabilitation floor is more challenging and very busy with so many different health issues to address. One of the health issues, which I worked a lot with was cancer.

Not only did I help these patients with their many daily needs but with their emotional needs as well. I would talk with them and comfort them and my heart would break.

So to make a long story short, I am now where they are or were. I am now the patient needing help. I HAVE CANCER! Hearing those words were so devastating, especially when I am only 54 and have a family, husband, children, grandchildren and other family members who I want to be able to spend more time with.

I was encouraged by my physicians to leave my job to fight my cancer full time. I am asking for your financial support in my battle against cancer. You can also help by sharing my story with others who may be willing to help.

Your financial support and prayers would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my families heart.

God Bless!
