The Official And Only Lod Agge Funeral Fund

Donation protected
This is a request our family has held off for doing in respect of our patriarch who was trying to get “things together” on his own. April 2019 our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, Lod Agge, was diagnosed with very aggressive stage IV stomach esophageal cancer and given 3-6 months to live with no systematic treatment. He had a feeding tube for basic survival and after a month of contemplating systematic treatment options, he opted for immunotherapy. He had only two sessions of this systematic treatment and a third was scheduled after his birthday. He had nine radiation sessions to stop internal hemorrhaging and was keeping things at bay, in spite constant nausea.

A man who had faced adversity growing up as a Mississippi sharecropper’s son and only an 11th grade high school education had won many victories in life. He taught himself the craft of brick masonry and made a life for himself to provide for his family, both immediate and extended. He brought people together with his cooking. He knew how Southern hospitality equated to making food for family, neighbors and ensured no one went without. He fed the masses with his good soul food and fed the masses with his laughter. His presence drew you in, yet his life stories kept you listening for more. Yet, he was humbled by life’s ebbs and flows. Nonetheless, he kept persevering in spite those obstacles and showed the world, he did not back down.

He had a quiet day of rest for his 76th birthday on July 2nd and on July 3rd, woke up demanding his favorite fruit for breakfast: watermelon. He grew up harvesting watermelons on Southern land and enjoyed their refreshing flavor every summer. This summer he ensured he had one last bowl of his favorite fruit. He enjoyed a good game of Spades with his children and grandchildren later in the day and then ended the night resting.

Although he lost a few large fights, the largest fight he lost was today when his battle with cancer ended. By 4th of July morning, he passed onto glory to complete healing and no more cancer, no more pain, no more suffering. He took his final breath in the presence of his son and daughter. He no longer had to fight.

He planned as much as he could, but toward the end of his life’s journey, he did not plan on the ending chapter. That is where we need your help. He prepaid for his grave plot but did not plan for the actual funeral costs. We are trying to honor his life and legacy by fulfilling his funeral wishes. With that said, we request our family and friends to share this request. If you were touched by this man, filled with his cooking or smiled because of his jovial presence, we request your help. If you know the family and friends who knew and loved him, we also request your help.

We greatly appreciate any donations.  All funds will go towards burial and funeral service. Thank you in advance for your love, prayers, support and financial help. We pray God bless each and every one of you with love, hope and joy always.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18

17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
