Live to Dream for Victoria Hospice
My name is Peter Houghton and I am a family physician in Victoria, B.C. Over the years many of my patients and their families have been helped by Victoria Hospice. Their approach maximises quality of life for those living with terminal illness. What I learned recently however is that Hospice depends on community donations for 50% of their annual $ 8 million budget.
Ever since I attended my first symphony concert at the age of eleven, I have wanted to perform a piano concerto with an orchestra but life put the dream on hold. However, after returning to piano and long hours of practice I decided that if an orchestra would do me the honour of accompanying me, it should be part of a concert for some good cause. Victoria Hospice is such a cause.
On Sunday November 22nd 2015, the Civic Orchestra of Victoria and the Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society have agreed to perform in a fundraising concert for Hospice. I’m hoping to raise $35,000 in honour of Victoria Hospice’s 35th Anniversary this year. Come join us in supporting the good work they do.
