Liv and Amani are slam poets, artists, farmers and activists who view poetry as a communal source of healing, and political resistance. They do their writing, dream weaving, soul seeking, dancing, and creating in the Capital Region of New York State. With Liv competing as Nitty Gritty Slam Team's 2016 representative and Amani coaching, we will be attending the Individual World Poetry Slam (IWPS) in Flagstaff, Arizona, October 12th-15th of this year. That's in 3 weeks!
Attending IWPS will offer us and our 518 poetry community a tremendous opportunity for growth and inspiration. We are excited to bring all we learn back to our Upstate NY home to continue to bolster and revitalize the rapidly growing poetry and art community in this region.
The Individual World Poetry Slam is more than a competition-- it is a festival of art and an opportunity to build and network with poets from all over the world.
With your generous decision to support this cause, your funding contributions will help Liv and Amani cover their costs of transportation and living during this week (as well as compensate our incredible videographer). The funds are needed as soon as possible so that we may purchase our flights before prices get too high. ANY SIZE DONATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
