A frolic in the world of Phyllis Rachel Larrabee A world we were lovingly surrounded by as children. A poet, writer, storyteller, freedom fighter; file clerk, auto mechanic, 4H Club volunteer; women's liberation advocate, visionary, dreamer, belly dancer, painter, herbalist, scholar, traveler, adventurer and social worker. All in just 82 years...
A wonderful daughter, sister, cousin, mother, lover and friend!
Phyllis believed that when we work together we can all build a world of hope, love and peace; in harmony with each other and the more than human world we are all a apart of. Our mom was taken from us too soon and suddenly at that!
Phyllis retired at age 55 from the Vermont Center for Independent Living after becoming severely disabled by cigarette smoke, petroleum based fragrances and molds and mites. She was a trendsetter, wearing a charcoal mask, years before it was fashionable and required. And has lived on a fixed income ever since.
With a sudden funeral bill of more than $6000, Phyllis' family is asking for help to cover this unexpected expense and continue to promote her more than 30 collections of poetry dating from 1974 to 2020. And Phyllis was prolific always writing and composing poetry in her final years...many unpublished. In fact, she was attempting to write a poem on her death bed until the last minute, unable to write, only holding her pen on paper...We would also like to continue to promote her works, published and unpublished, including short stories and plays.
