My name is Leon L Charger.
My Lakota name as given to me by Arvol Looking Horse is TaTanka A Wi Ca Ku (Brings Back Buffalo).
I am full blood Lakota/Dakota descendant of Chief Martin Charger & the Fools Soldiers Band of Cheyenne River, South Dakota. My great grandfather was Chief Martin Charger. I am the youngest of the remaining males in the Charger lineage. I have two living older brothers. Melvin Charger and Norman Charger. My oldest living brother Melvin Charger who has been blind since a child from an accident , has recently become progressively ill and is now in hospice care in Minnesota. He is 80 yrs old. Through out the years I had only three opportunities to visit him in my life. Now due to his weakening heart and a progressive lung cancer, in the words of those close to Melvin and his physicians, he soon will make his journey home. In loving Spirit of my brother's life, his health condition and a disheartening prognosis , I am planning to make the trip as soon as possible from California to New Mexico and then onward to Minnesota and with prayers answered, I will spend as much time as I can to pray with my brother.
To make the trip safely from California I am reaching out for financial support to help with my travel expenses. My prayer is to gather enough money for travel costs and to help with my brother's medical bills. I will need a uHaul to rent in order to take enough belongings for myself and my daughter and to rent an apartment close to my brother and his wife once I arrive in Minnesota . I will find another source of income to sustain me once I arrive,
Traveling to Minnesota to be by my brothers side and pray with him is my primary goal. Our goal is to obtain a uhaul for 1400. 00 . Auto transport is estimated to be 389.00. I will need 2000.00 for settling expenses for a place to stay and for food and gas to and from hospice..
I am also asking 2500.00 for my nephew Marty my brothers son to be there too. We really appreciate ALL the help we can get. I know there are good people out there with Big hearts of UNDERSTANDING will see this. Marty we will see your dad..TUNKASILA DOES NOT LIE. WOPILA TONKA TO ALL.
