Vote for Vince Garland

Hello there! My name is Krista Vince Garland and I am running for a seat on the North Tonawanda School Board. I hold an incredible passion for education and community collaboration.  I've been attending school board meetings, planning meetings, and parent support nights, and doing lots of research.  Our district has an obligation to provide meaningful educational experiences for ALL students. Our district must ensure that tax funds that are gathered from our citizens are used in a sound manner that has maximum student AND community impact. Our district has a RESPONSABILITY TO ALL to provide rapid communication to our community and TRANSPARENCY in actions and explanations and to keep our children and school employees safe and secure.  I am an assistant professor at SUNY Buffalo State College in the department of Exceptional Education. I have strong knowledge in evidence-based practices for programming, design, and instruction. For over a decade, I have procured several local, state, and federal level grants and am strongly adept in sound project and budget management. My current research focuses on animal-assisted interventions and their impact on academic and therapeutic outcomes for vulnerable populations.  Before moving to western New York, I taught special education at Indian Trails Middle School (science and facilitation/consultation; department lead; assistive materials coordinator) in the central Florida area and have taught clinical practice on-sight in local WNY schools for the past six years. I look forward to serving North Tonawanda. Our students deserve more; our citizens demand better.
