Kozo's Cancer Treatment Fund

Aloha. Thank you so much for clicking on this page. We are now reconnected and that is what really matters.

My name is Kozo Hattori. In July of 2015, I was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer—to be honest, it was rectal cancer. I had a 7 cm tumor in my rectum—a real pain in the butt. :) When the medical team decided that I needed to start chemo and radiation immediately, something in my guts told me to pursue other healing paths.

It has been over a year of alternative treatment, and I can honestly say that cancer has been the greatest gift of my life. I have been blessed with a plethora of connections, healings, hugs, and pardons since the diagnosis, yet it seems my body lags behind. I am still bleeding which causes anemia and debilitating symptoms like fatigue and Restless Legs Syndrome.

I feel like I am at a cross-roads with this dis-ease. In order to honor my responsibility as a father to my two sons, I have decided to get some tests done and be open to allopathic treatments. I found a new doctor who is willing to run the tests and, if necessary, order surgery without requiring me to do chemo or radiation. Obviously, these treatments will not be cheap.

I didn’t feel comfortable about asking friends and family for financial assistance until a healing partner of mine, Aunty Hali´a, told me straight up what I needed to hear: “You can save your face or you can save your ass, but not both!” As someone diagnosed with a rectal tumor, this literally resonated with me. So I’m choosing to lose face and ask for assistance.

Please don’t feel obliged to give in any way. So many of you have already given so much.  I am grateful to have you in my life—that is what really matters. As they say in Hawai´i, “If can, can; if cannot, cannot.” Either way, I love and appreciate you.

I have faith that the Universe will provide exactly what I need. Actually, I suspect that the Universe has already given us exactly what we need, and these challenges are just a way for us to reconnect with our bodies, our spirits, each other, and the Divine. I am grateful for all these connections that cancer has rekindled.

I only want to ask once, so here is a list of things that your generosity can help me and my family with over the next year.

$2,000--Sigmoidoscopy with Ultrasound to find out what is going on down there after a year of alternative treatment.

$2,000--CT scan to see if cancer has metastasized. This test was not covered by insurance last July, so I have been reluctant to re-do, but things have changed, so I'm willing to pay out of pocket to get confirmation.

$2,000--Continue alternative supplements like moringa, protandim, enzymes, wheatgrass, iodine, organic vegetable juice and raw foods

$4,000--Depending on results of sigmoidoscopy, get surgery to remove tumor. Assuming the surgery will be done before the end of the year, this is the amount that will put us in out of pocket max on insurance for the year. I'm not sure what happens after that, but I assume you can't be charged more if you are maxed out.

$8,000--In the unlikely event that I need more surgery or medical treatments in 2017, this will cover my out of pocket max.

Thank you for your undying love and support. There is no way I can pay you back, but please accept these humble gifts for your generosity.  There are no obligations on these gifts and they can be gifted to others.

$25 donation--Hawaiian Prayer chanted for your awakening/arising—“E ala E”

$50 donation--Personal phone or Skype call so we can share space and give thanks for each other.

$100 donation--Free ticket to Healing with Aloha 1-day workshop in California where I will share the myriad of blessings from this healing journey

$500 donation--Two tickets to Healing with Aloha workshop and 6 monthly phone/Skype sessions on embodying the Aloha Healing practices

$1,000 donation--Two tickets to Healing with Aloha 5 day Retreat on the Big Island of Hawai´i. Since many Hawaiian healing practices are relational, this retreat is for couples, partners, parent/child, lovers, etc.

$5,000 donation--Two tickets to Healing with Aloha 5 day Retreat on the Big Island of Hawai´i including all accommodations and food for two.

$10,000 donation--Two tickets to Healing with Aloha 5 day Retreat on the Big Island of Hawai´i including all transportation (airfare from the United States), accommodations and food for two.

I believe we are all connected—my healing is your healing; my gratitude is your gratitude; my Aloha is everyone’s Aloha. Thank you for co-creating this unbrokenness in us all.

I will continue to post updates on test results, treatment outcomes, and workshop dates. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
