Help carry on Amelia Earhart’s legacy. Donate to the Kitty Hawk Chapter of The Ninety-Nines Scholarship Fund.  The 99s, The International Organization of Women Pilots, was founded in 1929 with Amelia Earhart as its first president. It is a major provider of scholarships for women pilots.

Pilots are presently needed not only for commercial airlines, but for package delivery, disaster relief, and search and rescue missions. Pilots transfer patients or animals between hospitals and swiftly transport accident victims to emergency facilities. Instructors are needed to train people to fly.

Please help the Kitty Hawk 99s raise $20,000.00 to fulfill their commitment to help North Carolina women become pilots and further their aviation skills, and to help fill the present urgent need for pilots. Your tax-deductible donation will be used to fund not only current scholarships, but more importantly to endow our scholarship fund for future years.

These scholarships are for women of all ages, as you’ll see from pilot Sandra Smith’s story:

“What a difference the Kitty Hawk Chapter of The Ninety-Nines’ Marcia Keaton Scholarship can make in a woman’s life! Donating to this cause not only helps the scholarship recipients, but also the women whom they mentor and influence in their careers and dreams. I know many of these women who have all been inspired to ‘pay it forward,’ and I’d like to share my own story.

“Ever since my childhood in the early 1960s, while watching the planes approaching and departing Smith Reynolds Airport, I wished to be up there with those pilots to experience what they were enjoying. It wasn’t until nearly four decades later, though, that I began to realize my dream of flying an airplane. Never having set foot in a small plane, I took my first inspiring flight lesson!

“The Chapter’s Marcia Keaton Scholarship generously supported me in 2015 by providing funding to help me achieve commercial pilot certification. This training made me a much more confident, skillful and safe pilot who can now serve the aviation community more proficiently.

“This level of skill has aided my role as an Advanced Ground Instructor, as well. As a teacher, I have seen the magic that the world of aviation can create for students—of any age! What a joy it is to witness their dreams come true! I’ve seen a girl take her first Young Eagles flight, go through my ground school, and earn her private pilot certification. I’ve worked with and helped other women who have gone on to graduate from a local technical institute and are now working in the aviation industry. One of my students continued her studies and recently graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and then, supported by my recommendation, also received the Kitty Hawk Chapter of The Ninety-Nines Scholarship to help pay for her private pilot certification. These are just a few examples. What a difference the Chapter’s Marcia Keaton Scholarship has made to many! These women have all gone on to “pay it forward” to others, whether in general volunteer service, or specifically to young folks who aspire to fly or to better themselves by way of training toward meaningful work in the aviation industry.

“As a recipient of funds from those who have paid it forward through this scholarship, as well as being one who pays it forward as a small but potent way to help make the world a better place, I thank you in advance for your consideration. Your support will make a difference!”
