Help for old/unwanted sleddogs

My name is Sven Masch. I am a 39 year old german, living in northern part of sweden for 9 months now. I am working as a doghandler here, meaning i take care of sleddogs, prepare them for the tours etc.

During my time here i realized that there is often no place for sleddogs who have reached a certain age or for dogs who can´t run anymore for whatever reason (or are just not good, motivated sleddogs).

And it happens quite a lot, that in the bigger kennels that there are unplanned puppies. Some get lucky but most of the unwanted puppies will not live longer then a few hours..So one day there were 9 "unwanted" puppies. From one minute to the other i said that i will take them and try to find a home for them (in the first photo up here you can see me with the puppies). This was the moment when i realized that this is what i had to do up here.

I decided that i want to make a little bit of a change up here and create a place for all those unwanted sleddogs. I want to take them so they are save and i want to find them a new home.

A lot of people argue that "real sleddogs" are not happy as a hous
e dog and that they are not happy when they can´t run. Well, i have to say i disagree. A lot of the older dogs i work with are absolutely nice and calm dogs. They enjoy cuddles and they would be the happiest pet dogs.
I have one retired sleddog at home at the moment and she is the happiest girl ever, She loves the couch, loves to go on walks. I just want to give more of the "veterans" the chance to have a few more happy retirement years.

I created a project called "Kiruna Dog Rescue".
You can find me on facebook: Kiruna Dog Rescue  and a homepage is still under construction at www.kirunadogrescue.org

Both are still mostly in german but i will work on that and make the sites at least german and english so everyone can follow the developments.

Right now i am living in a shared cabin with a co-worker. I have built a "puppyyard" from scrap after i decided to save 8 puppies from o
ne minute to the other. I need a place for long-term rent or a place i can buy for me and the dogs i want to save.

Here you
can see the puppyyard i built:

A big and remote enough property with a simple cabin for me would be a huge step to really establish a place in swedish lapland. It would be a big improvement for the dogs and animal wellfare in this country.

I received a lot of simpathy already for this project and a lot of people offered me help or donated money and/or food.
Also the idea came up to start a gofundme campaign, so here we go. Let´s see what we can create together :)

Things needed to establish "Kiruna Dog Rescue":

- Own land or long term rented land
- Suitable car to transport dogs, food, dog houses etc.
- Kennels (in april the season is over and a lot of old dogs are not needed anymore. They need a safe place to stay until they find a new home).

My dog Marla is very important for the rescued puppies. She is very good at socializing them :)
