Kirstin's Invited to Stanford!!!
My 16-year-old niece has been offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. After working hard her entire school career to achieve a goal, she has done it!
Kirstin has been invited to Stanford University to participate in their pre-college program, Intensive Law and Trial. This program will require her best efforts and she is ready to take it on. It will consist of a 10-day trial, mock court case which students will prepare for and participate in. They will also be working on the Freedom Project.
Kirstin is a 16-year-old junior at Bennington High School in Vermont. She has worked extremely hard to maintain her GPA of 3.8 with an entire year to improve upon that. Stanford, one of the most prestigious law schools in the country, is impressed enough with her to have invited her to this program in Palo Alto, California this summer. She will also receive college credits for attending.
Attending Stanford has been a lifelong dream of Kirstin's. She wants to pursue a career in criminology with a focus on psychology. She has received numerous awards throughout her high school career because she works hard to achieve her goals.
The one thing preventing Kirstin from accepting this invitation is finances. Her extended family is trying hard to raise the deposit of $800.00 by week's end so this opportunity does not slip through her fingers.
In addition to volunteering her time for worthy causes, Kirstin participates in sports and is employed part-time in the evenings. She is saving every dime to achieve this goal.
Once her deposit is paid, Kirstin has been pledged $500.00 from the Lion's Club in Bennington, Vermont and she has also been granted a $750.00 scholarship from Stanford.
Tuition, room and board, plane tickets, and incidentals are all included in the amount she is hoping to raise. In Kirstin's words, "Please help me make make my lifelong dream tangible".
