Kirk/Rosenberger House Fire Fund

$16,840 of $20,000 goal

Hello friends,
As many of you know, my home state of California is currently in the midst of a horrific fire season. The famed Napa Valley wine region and Sonoma counties in Northern California are being devastated by fires and forced mandatory evacuations; 20,000 residents were forced to flee their homes and at least 1500 homes were evacuated. Around 57,000 acres were destroyed by Monday October the 9th. Sadly my friend Kira Rosenberger, her husband and son lost their home and everything they owned in these terrible fires. While the Kirk/Rosenberger family is very grateful  to be OK - imagine the shock of watching your entire home and every single posesssion you own burn up.

I am kindly asking you to please donate anything, no matter how small as it will greatly help Kira and her husband and son. Right now they literally have nothing but the clothes on their backs. I imagine they are in shock and we need to step in and help them. The family has two cats who will need boarding and food, and they will need to buy some new clothes, shoes, toiletries, medications,  gas for the car, and even new school supplies. They might need a place to stay eventually that will cost them money. They will need help sifting through the remains of their home, trying to salvage anything they can. They’re going to be on their phones a lot so they’ll need to pay their cell phone bills. They’ll need to rent a P.O. box. Frankly, they need money.  Again, I implore you to be as generous as you can and help the Rosenberger family. Thank you on behalf of me, the Kirks,  Kira and her furry family members. Your help is so greatly appreciated.

Hello most caring friends and generous donors...first of all - Denise de la Vaux here on behalf of Kira and her family - thank you SO MUCH for all the amazingly generous donations. We hit our goal of $15,000 so quickly...and sadly when you’ve lost just about everything money goes quickly too...so Kira and I decided to push the goal to $20,000. Whatever you can give, even $10 - is greatly appreciated. ❤️

I have great news. A friend of Kira’s husband has offered them a place to stay indefinitely so the Kirk/Rosenberger family DOES HAVE SHELTER NOW. Kira and her family feel very blessed and Kira is “humbled by the openheartedness and the amount of love that is so freely given.”

Kira’s son’s school is slated to be thoroughly cleaned and to reopen next Friday; however Kira and her family are worried that that toxic ashes and debris from their decimated neighborhoods could be carried down to the school if there are strong winds and depending on when the cleanup from all the burned homes’ begins. Kira said: “There is a huge school get together for all the families to begin healing (25% of the students at my son’s school lost their homes). We are hoping to find out more about whether there is going to be weekly or monthly ongoing g clean up of the school field and continuing follow up with the school officials regarding these concerns and, if not, we may need to switch schools. I’m praying that isn’t what has to happen as I feel so strongly that the kids need as much stability as they can get right now and that it is of maximum emotional benefit to keep the kids together and build even stronger bonds than they had before the disaster. There are so many unanswered questions right now but I’m trying to be patient.

In the meantime, I would like to thank you again for all of your support, physical, emotional, and financial. If you wouldn’t mind to keep spreading the word about this campaign just a bit longer I know we would all greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Denise de la Vaux on behalf on the Kirk/Rosenberger family. ❤️

Hello friends,
Denise here. Here is a quick and extremely sobering, and tragic update of the Northern California wildfires, in some pictures and by the the numbers. I have lived in Southern California my entire life; I went to Pepperdine University in Malibu and was evacuated my first year due to the terrible fires that often plague the Santa Monica Mountains. In half a century I’ve never seen anything as bad as these fires up north. Just wanted to give you some idea if you don’t live here what the massive destruction looks like. The following is a link to a CNN.com story discusing the over 122,000 acres burned so far.
