Kinkonauts 26 hour Improv Marathon

Keep Improv Contained and Off the Street

On February 10th & 11th, 2017, the Kinkonauts will bravely provide 26 sleepless hours of live performance with a different show every hour. This comedic descent into sleep-deprived hilarity will be 100% free to view for any audience member. Heavily-caffeinated performers will seek sponsorship for each hour of the marathon.

Where will funds go?

To help us find a new home!

On January 27, the Kinkonauts learned that they must leave their beloved home "The Lab" by March 1. As a result, we are on the search for a newer, brighter, better, buffer and possibly brawnier home to hang our improv hats.

Why do you need a new home?

To protect the public from rogue improvisors.

Without a home, improvisors will be forced to roam the streets looking for improv opportunities wherever they can find them. This could lead to interesting life experiences; or more likely, it could lead to a wandering improvisor insulting your aunt with a rap they made up about her pizza shaped birthmark.

Sick of unwieldy improvisors pretending to be Jesus during your baby's baptism? Then help sponsor The Kinkonauts new "Lab", which will continue to be one of Calgary's few improv containment centres and keep fake Jesus's away from your blessed baby.

All other funds will go to brining improv talent and teachers to Calgary, further developing Calgary's exploding comedy scene.

About the Kinkonauts

We are Calgary’s Improv Lab: a longform improvisational theatre troupe based in in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and are comprised of more than 40 improvisors and numerous troupes dedicated to creating emotional, grotesque and profound play-skits and make-em-ups.

The Kinkonauts use the art of improv to create new artistic theatrical experiences, and as a teaching tool to introduce people to a positive approach to human collaboration and interaction. This benefits people from all walks of life, from the artist, to the CEO, to the English-as-a-second-language student.

Each performance is a once-in-a-lifetime theatrical event. The audience provides the Kinkonauts with the imaginative material for on-the-spot improvised theatre. Nothing is planned. Relationships are sweetly or tragically transformed. Worlds are created or destroyed.
