KMS Trip to National SeaPerch

Donation protected
King Middle School competed in the 5th annual Northern New England Sea Perch Challenge and has been selected as the Maine representative to the National Sea Perch Challenge in Baton Rogue, Louisiana.

The Sea Perch Challenge welcomes individual students, as well as student groups of middle school and high school age to participate in designing, building and demonstrating the capabilities of remote control underwater robots. The basis for the underwater robots comes from a kit designed by MIT and the Office of Naval Research, and are constructed using basic tools following a set of plans provided with the kits.

Students earn points in the competition and maximize the time to demonstrate their piloting skills and their ROV capabilities.

The SeaPerch National Committee takes great pleasure in announcing that the 6th National SeaPerch Challenge will be held on May 20- 21, 2016 at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 175+ teams from across the country will compete in a juried poster competition and in-pool technical events with their SeaPerch ROVs. Students will once again enjoy a “college experience,” as accommodations and meals will be available for all participants on the university’s campus.

King Middle School will be sending 5 students and two chaperones to this national event.  Funds raised will pay for the registration to the Challenge, airfare and room and board.
