Kim and Jeff Miller were like many other 40-year old’s enjoying their lives together, their then 12 and 16 year old children, who are now 17 and 21 years old, step daughter and grandchildren. Suddenly, their world began to change!!!! In 2013 when Jeff had his first and, later that year, his second stroke. The family adjusted the best they could to both the loss of Jeff’s income and the additional care he required. Life went on, then in late 2017 Jeff had three more strokes. These stokes caused severe damage impacting his short-term memory and his ability to perform daily life skills. Once again, the family tried to adjust, now to the increased care required for Jeff!! At Christmas 2017, after Jeff’s most recent strokes, Kim became ill. After months of numerous tests and doctors’ visits, Kim was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma (glandular cancer). Doctors have said this is an incurable but treatable cancer. Kim will be starting chemotherapy immediately while trying to provide the care necessary for Jeff and help the family adjust to yet another crisis. This is truly the worst “perfect storm” imaginable.
As parents and grandparents, we can not begin to appreciate the level of anxiety and, yes, fear that this is causing for the Miller family. Over the course of a few short years they have gone from a fun loving two income family to one with life altering and life threatening medical issues and medical expenses and with no income. As friends, we are asking everyone to contribute to this GoFundMe account to help ease some of the financial and emotional strain. For your information GoFundMe only charges a very minimal $0.30 (30 cents) per donation administrative fee, regardless of the amount, above the normal 2.9% credit card processing fee. Therefore you can count on your donation going to help Kim and Jeff!!! Any contribution is greatly appreciated and will go directly into an account established to help Kim, Jeff and family fight thru this difficult time. Our goal is based on giving Kim and Jeff peace of mind by providing enough money for their house payments and utilities for 24 months. Thank you for joining us in helping this wonderful family!!!!!!
We would prefer to keep all gifts anonymous so please check the box under your name to hide your name and comment.

Good Morning Everyone ..... Just to give everyone a little recap as I have not posted much in detail....
My exploratory surgery on July 9th went very well. They where able to remove my cervix and uterus with no complications. I did not have to have a colostomy bag, which was a huge relief :) The cancer that was in my omentum (a fold of peritoneum connecting the stomach with other abdominal organs) crystallized with the chemo treatments and they where able to remove that also. I still have the issue with the cancer in my outer lung walls as that lining cannot be removed.
I saw my amazing OB Oncologist Dr. Hanna yesterday and when he walked in my room his first words where " Good Morning Miracle" Can you imagine me speechless ?????? Well I was !!!!!! He explained to us that the chemo cocktail of Taxo and Carbo is working so we have decided not to change my cocktail regiment and hoping it will continue to work on the lung linings. Originally we where going to switch to a different chemo cocktail, but as stated above, to my doctors surprise this regiment is actually working so we are leaving it as it is. This chemo treatment will be ongoing every 21 days, which I will begin next week until my body develops side effects or it stops working, at which point we will discuss changing over to a different cocktail formula. Unfortunately no one knows much about the treatment of clear cell ovarian cancer, so we have to just go with the flow, continue with what is working and continue with CT scans after every 3 round of chemo. I am truly blessed to have this outcome, the support of my family, the prayers, love, friendships, messages checking in on us, meals, financial support, house cleaning, massages, the show of support goes on and on and every little bit truly helps and keeps me positive !!!!!!
My goal is to be a true "MIRACLE" and end up in medical journals. I want to be the one that they can learn from and encourage women to be positive and fight the fight, be the warrior you have within you, speak openly about this nasty disease, don't let it live for you, instead just live!!!!!!!!
Jeff has had his C-Pap machine for about 3+ weeks and he is already showing some small memory improvements. I know this will take awhile to truly see some major changes, but I am so grateful to the good lord and his doctor at U of M for being soooo thorough with finding some solution to his memory issue.
This is our journey and we are taking it with an open mind and finding the positive sides to every aspect. I am humbled and eternally grateful to so many of you who have chose to take this journey with us in so many different ways. Knowing you are never walking alone brings such power to our family as we face the unknown. The good lord has brought us to each other for many reasons and I am blessed and the love I have from and for you all is overwhelming. Thank you for being you !!!!!!!!!! xoxoxoxo
We still have our goFundMe circulating also, so if you could please share / donate it would be truly helpful, as our financial future is still cloudy and my main goal is to keep our family in our home :) https://www.gofundme.com/KimandJeff
Thanks to everyone. Kim Miller

Sorry I haven’t updated anyone.... it’s been a rough few days after my chemo treatment on Friday 5/18 I am hoping today will be the turning point to feeling a bit better I had an appointment with my OBGYN Oncologist to learn more about Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer on Wednesday 5/23 and I am fortunate that my mom was able to go with me ❤️ I had a lot of questions and want to know exactly the plan for treatment. I requested another follow up at U of M and am thinking of moving there to continue treatment but will wait to hear from them both.

This has been the best resource to explain the kind of ovarian cancer I have.. if you where wanting to know information :) Stage IV Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma Ovarian Cancer.

Jeff has to go back to have another sleep study performed as he stops breathing 39 times an hour. They are going to perform this one with the sleep apnea mask on so they can get everything fitted and regulated for his in home machine. Still waiting to hear about his follow up with his stroke neorologist at U of M.

We have a broken vehicle currently so we are trying to figure out a solution for reliable transportation now..... keep your fingers crossed this can be rectified quickly!!!!! my parents are going to try to lease us a vehicle for 2 years so we can get to and from all our appointments with no worries or issues and in a vehicle that gets better gas mileage than our plow trucks

Other than that we are just living our lives and remaining positive that the good lord has a plan for us along this journey

Please continue to share this GoFunfMe page as every donation that comes in helps to relieve our financial worry about our home ❤️❤️

God Bless & Have a great Day

Happy SATURDAY !!!!!
Not sure what your weather is today, but mine is a bit cloudy today ... I really am hoping the sun finds its way through the clouds today !!!!! We have a friend coming by today to help us with the trees that need to be cut up and stacked ... I am grateful to him as they have been there all winter and we need them off the grass !!!!!!

It's a quiet day today ... just trying to figure out the help arrangements we need for May 10th... I go in for surgery and Jeff gets admitted to U of M for a 3-5 day observation and monitoring stay ... I am soooo worried as I can't be with him. It makes it so much more difficult with him having short term memory deficits !!!!! I know the good lord will watch over us both and this will all come together..... I have his sister Stacy flying in to help so that covers some of the days .... and of course I have my amazing parents Greg Murray and Yvonne E Murray who are ALWAYS there to help and support us .....

Please keep us in your prayers!!!!

Thank you to everyone who has donated and continues to share this for us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all of your generous donations we have passed the $8,000 mark!!!!!! That's 4 months house payments and utilities for Kim and Jeff. With this progress to our goal we are actually able to begin to withdraw moneys to make those house and utility payments starting in May!!!!!! So everyone understands how the process for withdrawals will work, the transfer the funds from GoFundMe will go thru a special account I set up as the GoFundMe organizer for this purpose and on to a special account that Kim and Yvonne have established to control and distribute the funds for house payments and utilities. When a few of us first started talking about ways to help Kim and Jeff, while we are friends but not related to them, we understood the urgency and established the goal of $50,000 or 24 months house and utility payments. This is an ambitious goal but we felt it was realistic. Thanks to you, in under a month we made a great start toward that goal. The key to our reaching that goal is for all of us to spread the word and encourage people to donate regardless of the amount they can afford. All donations can be and we would prefer that they be marked anonymous. With the support of the great staff at GoFundMe we have a wonderful beginning to helping Kim and Jeff.
Thanks to each of you,
John Holmes
