Father of four needs your help

Pashtana Anwar is a mother to four beautiful children and wife to Ahsanullah Acheckzai. Her husband is currently in the hospital receiving treatment for kidney failure and is in DESPERATE need of a kidney transplant. His wife, Pashtana is a match for him and is willing to give Ahsanullah her kidney in order to save his life, so finding a donor is not the issue, it’s paying for the procedure. In order to get Medicaid and CHIP coverage, many qualified non-citizens (such as many LPRs or green card holders) have a 5-year waiting period. This means they must wait 5 years after receiving "qualified" immigration status before they can get Medicaid and CHIP coverage. There are exceptions. For example, refugees, asylees, or LPRs who used to be refugees or asylees don’t have to wait 5 years. Unfortunately, Ahsanullah does not fall under any of these categories. The family resides in Manassas, Virginia and is reaching out to Everyone in order to help pay for medical costs, and save her husbands life.


Since Ahsanullah is not eligible for medicaid, the family was going to take their chances and travel overseas (very risky) to get the procedure done in order to offset the cost of having surgery in the USA. But that is not an option anymore. He will need to get everything done here in the U.S. If we can raise 270k, the family can have the procedure done here in the United States. Update: Initially the family created a go fund me account in the amount of 50 thousand dollars not knowing the exact cost of what they were facing, and thought they will be going overseas for the procedure, but since they Are not traveling overseas, because it is very risky going overseas for the procedure. Pashtana the wife will be covered as she will be undergoing surgery here in the United States, but her husband Ahsanullah will not be covered.  She is a very brave woman and has reached out to the community publicly which is difficult for any Afghan woman to do in order to help save her husband’s life.
