Team USA Pan American Championships

People often ask me why and how I started my powerlifting journey. To be frank, I started powerlifting because I wanted to chase after my dream of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Like every applicant, I wanted to impress my interviewers by showing them what makes me unique.  I believe that I was mentally and emotionally prepared to become a passionate physical therapist in the future, but am I physically fit for this profession? As a petite woman, my body size is often viewed as weak and fragile. If you asked me a year ago, I would have seen myself the same way too. Now, if you asked me today - I'd like to differ.

A year ago, I saw powerlifting as a way to improve myself. I wanted to disprove the idea that my physical appearance determines my strength or define me as a whole.  Along the way, I saw myself grow as an individual. My short year of powerlifting did not only give me strength beyond what I could have imagined I coud gain. Powerlifting gave me life lessons, life skills, and, most importantly, a team who I can call family. Today, I see powerlifting as more than just a golden ticket to DPT school. My reason to win a medal became not for myself, but for my team and for my loved ones. I trained hard because I wanted to dedicate my success to the people who became my biggest support system. Because of each of those individuals, I was able to achieve a goal that I never thought I was destined for – that is, earning a spot in the US Junior National Team for Powerlifting.

My name is Kenah Garcia. Today, I am proud to say that I am powerlifting not for myself, but for the USA.  With your additional support, I can achieve another goal in life – to compete at the Pan American Championships.

As a college student,  budget is tight for me to be able to compete for this prestigious event, which will be held in Orlando, Florida. You can help support me with a small donation (A little goes a long way!).  All donations will help tremendously and will go towards expenses that could not be covered for the competition. Thank you in advance for all the support and donation! Please feel free to share the link to family and friends.
