Kemery's Travel Abroad to Japan
When Kemery was just two-years old, she watched the Disney movie, The Princess and the Frog. For the next few years and intermittently throughout the following years, she spoke often about wanting to own a restaurant. A couple years ago, Kemery came up with the name Kemery Kreates and told us that would be the name of her company. She has talked about different things she could make to sell to make money for our church, for her school, and to save. Kemery definitely has a heart for giving.
On Sunday, January 15, 2017 Kemery woke up to her alarm clock which we forgot to not set. I, her mom, told her she had more time to sleep and she should get some more rest since it was very early. Kemery responded, "No, thank you. I'm going to work from home today. I want to work on my business plan, my logo, and my business cards. I want to earn enough money to go to Japan. I want to hire my friends so they can go to Japan too." She talked with her parents that day and got right to work. Kemery Kreates was born! Kemery began learning Japanese when she was 13 months old. Fast forward to age eight and we have a little girl who can read, write, and speak Japanese fluently! She has also made many friends along the way, some of whom she has been friends with since the very beginning of this language immersion journey.
Kemery's teachers have been truly amazing, in all subject areas, throughout the years. Her Japanese instructors have been top notch. Asuka Sensei, Jumi Sensei, Midordi Sensei, Kimi Sensei, and Mayu Sensei have poured a wealth of knowledge and nurture into teaching Kemery and her friends. This year they hope to put theory to practice!
Kemery's goal amount on Go Fund Me is to cover the trip for she, her little brother (8 months old), and her parents to go to Japan this May with Kemery's teacher. May is right around the corner but we are prayerful and hopeful that this is possible. Kemery has shared that she wants to help her friends raise enough money to go on the trip too. If we are fortunate enough to surpass the goal set here, we will share the money with the other five families (6 children who have been studying Japanese together and are fluent) who are raising money to go on the trip as well as with her teacher.
What a great culminating activity to round out their elementary school journey together! One of my friends said it best, "These children are going places...first stop-Japan!"
February 2018 - Kemery had 18 fashions on the runway of Atlantic City Fashion Week in New Jersey! That weekend was EPIC! Some pictures from the weekend are on the website www.kemerykreates.com Here's the video from the runway https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfhI1DbYD74&t=176s
May 2018 - Kemery was vending at an event where she met Ms. Sahar Simmons, an author. Ms. Sahar was also working on the OWNtv show "Love Is" that premiered on Kemery's birthday (June 19). Ms. Sahar set up a tour of Pinewood Studios for Kemery and Mom! Well, yeah, EPIC again! Here's the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdwP33oWXic&t=12s
May 2018 - Kemery graduated from Elementary School.
June 2018 - Kemery met Ms. Porsche Foxx, Mix 87.7 Atlanta radio host, who said she would help Kemery get the word out about her quest to get to Japan. Kemery has since been on the radio three times! Check them out

Kemery completed her third triathlon this past Sunday! We are super proud of her.
At school she has been working with the broadcast team to deliver the morning announcements, which she finds very exciting.
BIG NEWS! We entered Kemery Kreates in the #TOFi International #HersOWNlyJr #PitcHER2017 Contest. She had to complete an application and a video submission. Had to pull out a little bit of the Japanese for this one. :-) Basically, four adult owned businesses and one child entreprenHER will be selected to receive a pretty substantial monetary contribution for their business goals. For the Jr category, one company will be selected to receive $10k toward their business goals and $5k in professional services! Woa! The great news is that Kemery Kreates was selected to be in the final 20! That happened on Sunday. When do we find out if she is in the final 10? Tomorrow, 8/30! When (speaking it in the universe) she is selected for the Top 10, she will have the opportunity to pitch her business to the judges in November. That being said, please keep her in prayer. No matter what happens, we are always proud of our girl!
Japan was the initial goal and what fueled starting the business. Kemery is now in it to win it. She has goals of giving back to her community; more travel in the future; taking dance classes again at her dance studio and performing in their professional productions; beefing up the language tutoring to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test; adding in learning Chinese again; learning about investments; and purchasing some stocks from some of the hottest companies. I kid you not. Kemery claimed these goals for her very own and is asking me for more opportunities to work to achieve them.
Sending many thanks to our village for keeping us uplifted in prayer and for your support! Please continue to make donations and share with your network. The higher our sales, the more credibility we have when we pitch her business to potential investors and for contests such as this one.
Let your light shine on the world! Love you lots!
There's so much to say! Since last time, a lot has happened. In May, Kemery was featured by Girls with Ideas. Here's the link. http://www.girlswithideas.com/blog/2017/4/25/meet-an-idea-girl-kemery-oparah
In June, Kemery was featured on the cover of Fayette Woman Magazine! Here's a link to the article http://fayettewoman.com/kemery-oparah-challenges-others-go-farther.html
Also, in June, we did travel to Los Angeles, Ca. It was an amazing trip! Kemery was invited to LA to audition for a show. We did sign a non-disclosure agreement so, unfortunately, we cannot say anything further about the show. That sucks because she did not get selected so we still cannot talk about it. UGH! No worries though, she's not heart broken. That experience just opened her eyes to something new. Seriously, she's that girl who finds excitement in so much!
Aside from the very cool experience, the Blessing of that trip is that we were able to see family that I had not seen in 20-30 years! That side of our family had never met Chinenye, Kemery, or Jeremy so it was such a wonderful opportunity to connect with family while we were there!
We were invited to the Inspiring Greatness conference as guests but Kemery ended up with an opportunity to share her business with the group. It was spectacular to have so much support and so much vision from the young ladies in that room. Woa! Greatness overload!
Two years ago, I think, Kemery participated in a sewing camp for a week. In that camp, she sewed a backpack and a pencil pouch. She has had a serious interest in sewing since then. This summer we found a free sewing challenge course online. She learned how to sew clothes for her doll. She and one of her BFFs sat down and learned how to sew a skirt and headband for themselves. They are hooked. You heard it here first that there are plans underway to expand Kemery Kreates to include clothes in some way!
Kemery has a few favorites for singers. One of her favorites is Alicia Keys. She even learned how to play the intro to this song and it's so appropriate https://youtu.be/J91ti_MpdHA
Kemery is DETERMINED to get to Japan in 2018. We are determined to help make this possible for her. Please donate and please spread the word. Given that she believes it is possible, then it must be possible. Together, we succeed. Love ya!
