Kelly's cancer campaign

Kelly was at home with her six month old daughter Priya on February 15th when she suddenly didn’t feel right and moments later lost the ability to speak. Although we didn’t know it at the time, this was her first seizure and the beginning of her journey. She was diagnosed with Melanoma cancer; with tumors on her brain, spleen, liver and lung. Her medical condition requires that she relocate to Vancouver from her community of Baynes Lake for treatment as soon as possible. While her family and friends are supporting her in many ways, the financial burden has led us to turn to crowd funding to help with the medication costs that aren’t covered by BC Medical, her costly move, the necessity of having 24 hour support, and their living expenses in Vancouver.
Kelly has a beautiful spirit and a drive to survive to continue to be a mom to her little angel, Priya. Kelly has dedicated her working life to supporting those with disabilities and providing positive outdoor recreational experiences for children. She has worked for several non-profit organizations and has supported environmental causes through her volunteerism and donations. She is a natural leader and has been a mentor and inspiration to many people. This makes it especially difficult for her to ask for anything, so we are doing this on her behalf.
We will need to move quickly for Kelly as her complete biopsy results come back next week and she’ll need to begin treatment as soon as possible. While there are some medications that have been successful in treating advanced Melanoma, there are many costs that are not covered through standard health care. We are learning more each day about her needs and options so we will endeavor to update this site as often as we can.
If you can find it in your heart to give anything to support Kelly’s journey it would help immensely. Our current goal is $25,000 to support her first few months of medication, living expenses and Priya’s care while she seeks treatment. Kelly’s focus is on fighting the cancer to ‘give Priya as much time as possible with her mom’ and we have no doubt that she’ll be able to extend her life and hopefully make a full recovery with the right support.
