Saving Kayla's Eyesight

Kayla Mosley is the 18 year old daughter of Lamar and Dianna Mosley and is in danger of losing her eyesight due to a connective tissue disorder and advanced keretaconus. Her vision has already deteriorated to the point of not being able to drive at night or continue her college education.
Kayla has a connective tissue disorder (Ehlers Danlos) that affects various organs in her body, most recently her eyes. Due to this condition, her eye tissue has always been thinner than normal (so much so that the whites of her eyes have a blueish tint-a condition known as "blue scelera"). In February of 2014, Kayla was diagnosed with keretaconus, a disease in which the tissue of the cornea thins and loses the ability to hold the shape of the cornea. The cornea becomes cone-shaped. This affects vision greatly.
Since Kayla already had thin eye tissue, her keretaconus progressed much more quickly than a person's with normal connective tissue. The standard treatments for keretaconus were ineffective on Kayla and did nothing to slow the progression. She has been seen by two different eye surgeons (one a cornea specialist) in Oct. of 2014 and was told that her eye tissue was too thin for even the advanced treatments normally done on patients with advanced keretaconus in the U.S. Her eye tissue was too thin to do collagen cross-linking or a cornea transplant because there is not enough tissue to connect the collagen or a transplanted cornea to. The cornea specialist told us about a procedure that is done only in the Netherlands called a Bowman's Layer transplant and that was the only hope he could give us. He told us Kayla's cornea, without this procedure, will continue to thin and cone until she is blind.
Contact was made with the Melles Clinic in Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Kayla has been seen by their doctors. She is scheduled for surgery on the first eye on March 17, 2015. Only one eye at a time will be done. In case of a negtive outcome, she will have sight in one eye for a little longer. If all goes well, we will return to the Netherlands at a later date for surgery on the second eye. The cost for each transplant surgery, special lenses for her eyes, and the expenses for travel each time will cost an estimated minimum of $20,000 -25,000 per surgery/trip. We know we are facing at least two trips over there but it could be more if there are complictions.
We know God has a plan for Kayla and is going to bless her life in all areas. He has provided a way since her diagnosis and before and will continue. We appreciate all who have and will help make this possible. Thank you.
