Seeking Support to Help Battle Epstein Barr Virus

Donation protected
Over five years ago I became sick with what I now know is Chronic Persistent Epstein Barr Virus. At the onset of the virus I noticed a significant change in my energy levels and despite seeking the help of various doctors and specialist, upon its diagnosis, I was told there was no cure.

People living with the active virus deal with extreme chronic fatigue. They often have to spend days on end resting in bed, missing out on life’s normal activities including being active, working, or even walking for more than a few minutes. Even basic things like food preparation or standing long enough to take a shower are often difficult. This has unfortunately been my experience.

Although it’s one of the most common viruses amongst humans, it typically remains dormant in most people never creating symptoms, or at least symptoms that subside within a few weeks. Others, however, experience symptoms that last for years or even a lifetime, and consequently a much lower quality of life.

When my health initially started to worsen, I just assumed it would eventually improve and that I could get over it without making a fuss about it as I didn’t want to worry my family and friends.

Unfortunately, it’s gotten exponentially worse. The virus has slowly depleted me, diminished career opportunities, my finances, and mostly just frustrated me as it very much contrasts my natural energy level and personality to lay back and rest, day in and day out.

Although there is no known cure, I’ve looked into available remedies, from both Western Medicine, as well as a holistic approach. I recently met with Los Angeles based Dr. Anju Mathur at the Angel Longevity Medical Center and after doing a full evaluation, she’s recommended a protocol she believes will bring me back to a functioning energy level and will allow me to live a normal life again.

The treatment includes UBI (Ultraviolet Blood Irradation) IV therapy to kill the virus and any bacteria in my blood. It has been shown to help tremendously in many other EBV patients, especially in Europe where it’s been used more preveniently with great success. The cost of the recommended treatment is about $8,500 total. This includes two sets of 10 UBI IVs at $2475 each, and the concierge price of the program at $3495.

I do not qualify for disability in California as I wasn’t working a full-time job before I got sick as I did various promo jobs and gigs in order to make auditions and focus on music here in Los Angeles. Because there has been little research done on the virus, insurance doesn’t cover treatment.

Lowering my viral load is imperative as long term EBV can become more serious. Some 200,000 cancer cases per year are likely caused by the virus. It’s also known to create debilitating things like MS, lupus and other conditions.

The good news is I’m hopeful I can make a full recovery and live an active life again, and believe this treatment can help.

Thank You,
Kate Paul
