Help Kat Reach For The Stars

“Hi! My name is Kat Whitlock. I'm 18 years old. I'm a songwriter, musician and singer from Austin, TX who is focused on a career goal of becoming a solo artist. Music is my passion!  I've dreamt of being a singer since I was 8 years old. I’ve been focused on achieving the dream of being a recording artist and songwriter since I was 13. Being able touch people's lives with my music is why I am an artist. I love that connection. I love making people feel they aren't alone in the world. That someone understands them.”

“This year I'll be a senior in high school, so now is the perfect time to work on my artist development.  I'm very driven and serious about my music and I've put a lot of thought into what I need to do in order to pursue a music career.”

A little about Kat-

Kat has been impressing audiences with her powerful, soulful vocals since she joined her first cover band at the age of 13.  Fast forward four years and three bands later, Kat has grown as a musician and songwriter enough to do her first solo project. At the age of 17, she co-produced her first solo, self-released EP, “17 & Cynical”. The following year, Matt Novesky of Blue October paired Kat up with producer Joseph Milligan of Anberlin to record her single “Let You Go” at Orb Studios in Austin, TX.

“Up until now, I’ve had some wonderful mentors in Austin but I’ve reached a point where I need to work with an artist development team if I want to further my career. After a lot of research, I contacted PCG Universal (https://pcguniversal.com/about), an artist development company created by music industry veteran Bernard Porter (27+ ys of experience in the industry), based out of Nashville, TN.

“After speaking with PCG, I signed up to attend their summer boot camp in Nashville to get a better idea of what they could do for my career. It was a great trip! I learned so much! My trip to Nashville confirmed that PCG would be able to help me. Based on the success of the Nashville trip, I was invited two weeks later to attend the PCG NextDallas showcase for producer Keith Thomas and a panel of music industry professionals. The critiques I received from Keith and the panel members confirmed that this dream of mine isn’t crazy. I have the talent but need further development, I have the work ethic but need career guidance and I need a business plan. PCG can help me develop that.

I’ve been offered the opportunity to be a PCG Emerging Artist. I’m so excited for the opportunity and career guidance PCG is offering me. This program is an elite group that is highly coveted and requires a vocal audition. It is specially designed for artists they feel have definite potential to compete in today’s market after appropriate development. When I got the news I was being offered this opportunity, I couldn't hold back the tears because getting training at PCG means so much to me but I also knew the financial burden it would mean to my family. Because being selected, means traveling to Nashville from my home in Texas multiple times a year for one on one training.  My first trip to Nashville as an emerging artist is scheduled for October, if I am able to raise the funds to cover my travel (flights and rental car) food and lodging. It would mean the world to me if you could help me do that.”

”Working with PCG will help me improve my songwriting and become a better performer as well as learn about the music business so I can make informed decisions about my career.
To give you a better idea, here is a list of the training PCG offers:

•live performance coaching
•live show production
•vocal & instrument
•media training
•songwriting
•studio
•entertainment ethics
•authenticity training
•music business education
•music publishing
•professional styling and overall brand development
•creative direction
•social media marketing
•website development
•artistic content development and project development (i.e., recording, photo session, music video)

“To sum everything up. So far, I’ve funded my pursuit of music myself through tips from gigs, odd jobs (babysitting and pet sitting) as well as birthday money and Christmas money from family and friends. I also have a part-time job working retail at the mall. Basically, every penny I can get my hands on, goes to my music. With the support of my Mom, we’ve managed to pool together enough money to cover my tuition and instructor costs at PCG but I still have the expenses of travel, lodging and misc. costs that I am unable to afford on my own. I’ve reached a point that I need help. That is where you come in.  With your financial help I will obtain the skills to truly pursue my dream of becoming a successful solo artist. I cannot do it without your help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! With your support it will be possible for me to take my career to the next level. I promise if I am able to take advantage of this opportunity, I will work extremely hard to make you proud of me."
