Background: My disabled mom Karol and her 4 dogs were trapped in her home during the June 23rd flood in Rainelle, WV in Greenbrier County. She's wheelchair bound and unable to leave the house on her own. I was three hours away in Huntington at the time and couldn't get to her because both entrances to Rainelle had flooded suddenly. I started calling emergency services at 8:00PM to have someone rescue her. Concerned for her life, I repeatedly dialed any emergency service I could find and shared on Facebook pleading for help. During the time she was trapped in her home she clung to her four dogs as the water rose around her. One of the dogs, Frankie, jumped down. She had listened to her beloved dog Frankie drowning, unable to get to him in the water with her wheelchair.  Her neighbor also was trapped and tragically died in the flood. While the water rose around my mom's wheelchair, she used her remaining cell phone batter to text goodbyes and screamed desperately for help. The water rose to 8 ft. She wasn' t rescued until six hours later at 3:45AM by the brave men and women of the National Guard.

She's now in the care of the VA in Beckley. We're currently trying to find temporary fosters for the surviving dogs, as my small apartment doesn't allow animals. My mother will soon be released from the hospital and we are looking for handicapped accessible housing for her and her sweet dogs in the Huntington/Charleston area. My apartment is a 3rd floor walk up and isn't wheelchair accessible. She's lost everything she owns in the flood and there's no idea when or if she'll be able to return home. We're asking for any help you can provide at this time as she's in great need. She'll be starting over with clothing, medical supplies including her wheelchair and home hospital bed, housing, etc. There aren't words to describe what the support we've received through this difficult time means to us. Every share, prayer,  phone call, and tip contributed to saving her life. Thank you so much.

All my mom's aniques, herilooms, and collections are reduced to massive pile...

The flood waters destroyed everything in it's path. It's hard to imagine that just a week ago this was her cozy, warm bedroom

Most of all we miss our beloved pet Frankie who passed in the flood
