Cyanide Secrets: Truth for Chris Erick

Christopher's death investigation has been seriously mishandled by the Midlothian Texas Police Department.  MPD led our family on for 2 years following the death of my son, claiming they were investigating when in reality they were secretly destroying  and altering any evidence which did not work in favor of a "Suicide"finding. 

The hostility towards me by the district attorney's office could not be ignored. It was the same hostility I recognized from day one by the Midlothian police department, where they had been so indiferent about hearing my concerns, they actually allowed my son to be cremated before testing him for long term poisoning. We needed hair and tissue for this type of testing. After I spoke directly to the medical examiner he was the only one who would listen to me and he agreed to test the only thing we had left which was a vial of Christopher's blood, which did test positive for a lethal amount of cyanide. Christopher's death certificate was amended from "Natural Death by Heart Disease" and changed to read "Cyanide Toxicity by Means that were Undetermined."

Although Midlothian PD still deny this mistake was ever made, I did later learn that the lead investigator who was responsible for testing Chris had been demoted from criminal investigations to school resource officer at a local high school.

Recently, Aug. 6, 2014 due to the public's persuasion, Ellis Coutny District Attorney Patrick Wislon called for a secret grand jury to hear the case and decide if it should go to trial. I was sent a letter from the district attorney giving me the OPTION to testify if I wanted to. This "option" to testify was a "red flag" since it certainly was not the sign of an aggressive prosecutor who was actively pursuing charges of homicide. That red flag followed by many others, for example the Midlothian police informing me that they were closing the case and ruling it a suicide just a week prior and then seeing that my efforts to prepare to testify before the grand jury were all being hindered by the district attorney's office, I became convinced that my testimony would be the only way to make certain the grand jury heard all of the evidence. I felt as though I was about to walk into the lion's den.

To make a long story short, since the District Attorney has sworn me to secrecy about the matters that occured before the grand jury that day and he has further threatened to imprision me up to 6 months for telling anyone what happened in there, I am unable to share that. But I can say, after I walked out of the court house following the grand jury hearing, the effects of that day have been that of severe trauma and devistation.  Some believe that  the hearing was conducted only in an effort to silence me. It worked.

My son's case can not remain in this sam state with no answers, no closure and no justice. There is too much evidence proving this was a homicide. How could anyone demand that a Mother simply forget such a massive violation to her child? It is an impossible request.

I am creating this fundraiser to raise the money for the continued legal expenses we are incurring in an effort to stand up against this major miscarriage of justice being committed in my son's name. The actions by the Ellis County law enforcement are not in the name of justice, the actions they are taking are criminal.

The lives of my 2 children are everything to me and one of those 2 children were tortured to death.  Because one of the people involved in killing my son is a firefighter, my son's killers have received complete police protection and no one has been held accountable for this obvious crime. 

 No one should be held above the law, regardless of the uniform they wear.
