This Memorial fund is very simple.
Judy C has been continuously fighting a battle for her quality of life for over 28 years. She has fought viciously in the hospital for the last 5+months. Unfortunately things haven’t gone quite to plan—the story of all of our lives.
Judy became disabled in Feb. 1991, due to a horrible car accident. She fought death then and won. She was in hospital just over a year before being able to return to her youngest two children, then 12 and 7 (1992).
Over the next 28+ years she has been cared for at home by family; her children and grandchildren and countless friends have all contributed to her quality of life. She saw her youngest children through to adulthood. She has seen most of her grandchildren through to adulthood.
She almost left us five years ago, but she fought her way back from sepsis and a ventilator and beat a lot of odds again.
Just over five mos ago Judy opted to have a surgical procedure that was supposed to improve her quality of life. She’d had chronic wounds that were in danger of costing her her life or limb.
Unfortunately, nothing seemed to go as planned from the very beginning. Complications and illness have culminated in a laundry list of life saving procedures since the middle of January of 2019.
Judy’s body is betraying her and she has been on life support for almost 4 mos. Recently we have learned that there is little hope for her situation to improve. Coming home to us is no longer in the cards. Judy feels that her quality of life is no longer acceptable and that perhaps it is time to move on and be with all her family who’ve gone, before.
Our whole family and extended family has had some hand in taking care of her over all these years. All of us. These last 6 months have been especially difficult, as our livelihood literally became our taking care of her.
We waited all these months for a light at the end of the tunnel. We drained our saving to keep up the household bills, waiting for her safe return. Unfortunately it just wasn’t to be.
Now, as we plan for the end, we are setting up this campaign so that when the time comes, we can give her the memorial she deserves. This fund will also support and assist any family members who haven’t the means to make it to her side to see her one last time.
