Hi, my name is Jas and I am currently in an ongoing family law custody battle for my five year old son, Josiah. The Court of Orange County CA, has ruled in favor of his abusive father to have full sole and physical custody of our son. I have been unable to afford an Attorney so I have had to study the law and have been forced to represent myself in court against a high powered Attorney. I do not qualify for any legal aid because I do not live in the same county as where jurisdiction is. I relentlessly search for a Pro Bono Attorney but no one has taken my case.
I have always been a loving and responsible mother. However due to my son's fathers ability to have prominent legal representation, I lost custody even though, I have never been deemed an unfit mother. I am being punished for being a "protective parent".
For the first three years of Josiah's life, I stayed at home and raised him with little help from his father.
After Josiah's father unexpectedly had me served on New Year's Eve (two years ago) for custody, I was left with nothing and sold everything I had to support Josiah. Eventually, I earned a position teaching at a Christian School where Josiah attended with me. His father was unsupportive of him attending this type of school and would often tell Josiah, "Jesus is not real". I lost my job because of him and his family's strategic harassment and intimidation at my workplace.
I am in need of help. I have counseled with several Attorneys and I cannot retain any of them due to a lack of funds. This is very painful, highly emotional, and stressful for both my son and I. The decision of the court granting this unfair custody arrangement has given a great advantage to my son's father. He does not have to have court ordered supervision, but I do. I have to drive two hours round trip to Orange County for supervised visits with Josiah and also have to pay the appointed agency to visit with my son. My son's father is a Psychologist and his father is a Lawyer. With their titles and income, this kind of financial power leaves me in a destitute situation. I have recently secured work to help support my situation , however I am still financially lacking. My family and I have exhausted all resources.
Time is extremely critical. I need to raise $10,000 for a Family Law Attorney to help fight for custody to protect my precious boy who is truly suffering a great deal.
