In Memory of Jordyn LeAnn Durr

On August 9, 2013, our beloved 15 year old daughter, Jordyn, was taken from us by a drunk driver while walking along the sidewalk with her dear friend Brooke McPheters. They were returning from shopping for school clothes at a local mall when they were struck and killed by an out of control vehicle. They both were looking forward to starting their sophomore year.

From the moment she entered this world with a head full of red hair and big blue eyes, she held our hearts. Jordyn had an open heart full of love for her family, friends, and animals. She lit up a room with her endless freckles, infectious smile, and tremendous sense of humor. Jordyn cherished her friendships and became an active cadet in ROTC. She enjoyed promoting, volunteering services, and participating in riflry.

From the moment we received notification of her passing to present day, the Alaska Police & Fire Chaplains' Ministries ([email redacted]) have been there to assist us, cry with us, hold us, pray with us, and shelter us. We cannot imagine getting through those first days, let alone the upcoming years, without their loving support.

In honor of Jordyn, we are setting up this fund in her memory with donations to go to the Chaplains' Ministries. They are a non-profit organization utilizing volunteer services for those in need. Our hope is that no other parent or family member will need their services, but know that their influence will continue to help others in devistating times like this.
