Gift of Hearing - Mission to Yamasá

Donation protected

I believe that hearing is key to maintaining relationships with those we love. Unfortunately this is not a basic ability that everyone has access to.

This April I will be joining the Gift of Hearing Foundation and a team of 11 Canadians on an annual Mission to Yamasá.  Here we will perform hearing tests, check ups and fit anyone that has hearing loss with donated hearing aids.

Impoverished nations like the Dominican Republic see higher rates of disease and infections. This compounded with the lack of healthcare services leads to higher rates of hearing loss.  The World Health Organization considers hearing loss to be the world’s most common impairment with over 360 million suffering from disabling hearing loss (32 million of those being children).

Hearing loss leads to a disconnection from the world and to loved ones. This also leads to difficulties in the classroom, social isolation and dementia.

Luckily hearing loss is also one of the most easily treatable conditions. Through the use of hearing aids, we are able to quickly restore this life changing ability.

Please support my Mission to Yamasá so we can ensure more people and children are able enjoy a higher quality of life and to enjoy the world around them.

Please help me give the Gift of Hearing.

I will be paying for my own travel and accommodations
to Yamasá. Every penny you donate will go directly to the Gift of Hearing and to a the aiding of those in need in Yamasá.

My goal of $2,500 will help fund the necessary
supplies and equipment required to fit 25 people with the Gift of Hearing.

With $2,865 (additional $365) we will also be able to feed a needy family with food for a year.

With $3,490 (additional $625) we will purchase and bring a humanitarian medical kit from HPIC . Supplying basic and essential medicines for the region.

With $4,490 (additional $1,000) we will help to pay for a team of local doctors to visit, aid and treat 7 neighbouring regions (Batey’s and Barrio’s) with Canadian medicine.

Thanks for your support.
