On April 6th, 2014, the world lost a precious little boy named John Triton Harvard to a dog attack, beginning a nightmare for his family which they still struggle through every single day.

His brother who witnessed the attack has PTSD. His sister, who adored John, has been known to cut herself and may suffer from depression. John's mother (Johnna) suffers from numerous health conditions herself. As though it wasn't traumatic enough to lose her boy, she was terrorized upon visiting her son's grave by a viscious dog.: http://www.abc3340.com/story/25910764/parent-of-child-killed-by-a-pit-bull-terrorized-by-a-pit-bull-at-sons-grave-site

It is true that the dog who killed John as well as the dog who attacked his mother is what is often referred to as a 'pit bull type dog.' Because pit bull ownership is such a controversial topic, many were hesitant to donate to the Harvards' memorial fund for John, believing falsely that a donation to the victim of a pit bull attack is a vote against pit bull ownership. This simply isn't the case.

Regardless of your views on pit bulls, this shouldn't stop you from giving a helping hand to a family in need. Johnna is falling behind with her medical bills and insurance hasn't covered counseling for John's siblings, who are struggling to come to terms with their brother's death. Donations will help them immensely, but more than that, leaving a kind comment will make a world of difference to the Harvards. After all, what could be more beautiful than showing that you care?

Wow, we've surpassed $200! That's amazing. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and shared this story. From what I understand this will be enough to get John's siblings into a counseling session with hopefully more to come.

To anyone who is seeing this for the first time, please know that kind words are a wonderful form of support, even if you can't afford to donate any money. Also, if anyone knows of a counselor in Birmingham, Alabama who doesn't charge outrageous fees and would be willing to sit down and talk to John's siblings, please pass along his/her information. Really what the Harvard's need is support within their own community and for whatever reason, they're not getting enough.

Still, another thank you to those who live elsewhere that have been willing to show their support. That's truly touching and beautiful <3.

I just wanted to start by thanking the anonymous first person to donate! That was very kind of you!

Let me reiterate what I said in the campaign description: even if you cannot donate more than $1, that's alright! This case is unique because, tragically, the physical damage has already been done and the Harvard's now need help healing their emotional pain. Your kind comments will help immensely in this process!

I understand some people have wondered who I am and what my role in this is. My name is Janvier. I don't know the Harvard's personally but their story touched my heart. I'm no stranger to tragedy. My state still bares the scars of Columbine as well as the Aurora Theatre shooting. I can't imagine people lacking compassion in any of these situations. Unfortunately in pit bull attacks, people do tend to lack compassion for the victims and that's not right.

All of the proceeds raised will go directly to the Harvard's.

Update the home where John Triton Harvard was killed by the neighbors pit bull was burnt down yesterday ?? It's is currently under investigation the Harvard family was there getting there home ready to rent out as they had moved after John's death! Might I add it was hard for John's sibling's to walk out of the door each day to see where John was Killed the pain of knowing he was attacked and drug from the front door into their yard where he played daily ! Where an 8 month old 80 lb Pit Bull had attacked John 5 yrs old as he was fixing his bike just steps from his front door the animal drug him 20 feet away from his front porch where he was bitten 50 times in his head alone. John was shaken , mauled , and suffered bites all over his body he had so many tears to his face and neck leaving him so severely torn apart that the loss of so much blood John suffered had gave him no chance of survival this had caused him his horrific death! So it was just unbearable for them to reside in the home ! There is a video of John Triton Harvard @ youtube.com and many stories of his death you can visit his memorial page also ! to see what a sweet little baby boy he was!!! Taken to soon at just 5 yrs old This now is important as ever to assist them in getting some help to these children there are 4 of John's siblings haunted by what has transpired since his death and each day becomes almost unbearable for them all I pray for there recovery soon Please help if you can it will be a blessing for them all.

The siblings of John are very traumatized have had some issues do to the loss of there sweet brother John, It's not fair that the owner or the insurance company never set a fund up for there recovery and loss , The therapist needed to help them is costly and they need it desperately mom found one but his fee's are 200.00 an hour this should be a given in the situation to get them free care to assist them in the loss of there brother so tragically and horrifically taken by the jaws of a dog ! I don't get it so a friend set this up to help these children get help so they can try to led a somewhat normal life with out there little brother !!! May god watch over them all Prayers to them my grandchildren are angles too!!!

You may want to look up a video on Emotional Freedom Technique for PTSD. In a study by the National Institute of Mental Health it was found to be highly effective for combat veterans and I'm sure it will help. It's easy enough for a child to do and based on neuroscience. I've used it myself and I feel it saved me. You could also google an EFT practitioner in your area.

I want to personally thank those who have donated. We lost our family home thursday to an undetermined cause.our children have hit rock bottom. That was their home where john was born and raised and were going to pass it down to our oldest daughter and it has been taken away too. Everything since John was born has been taken away from us, first his life, now his belongings and our children's. I can never replace his favorite slide bed :( so much pain. I wish I could grab my children up and hold them and promise it will be ok :( I can't make any promises other then I will try to get them help and be right here by their sided. We have almost raised enough for the first visit, thank you. I pray more people will find it in their hearts to donate and help my innocent children and help save them from this pain so they can cope properly and I don't loose the rest of my angels xx god bless yall xx thank you

I strongly encourage you to seek an attorney and I am donating $25 for your legal fees. If you were a pit monster that ravaged a child the Lexus Project would represent you for free. But unfortunately your lost child has fewer rights than a killer dog in our culture. I am profoundly sorry for your loss. My sincere best wishes go out to you and your family.

I hope you've spoken to an attorney about suing the owner of the canine IED for funeral costs, continuing therapy and punitive damages. The fact is if this douchebag had chosen any other type of dog this child would likely still be alive. dogbitelaw.com
