On September 5th Joel was sent to urgent care from work. They did routine labs and was found to have dangerously low platelet counts, and other dangerous results. He was then transferred by ambulance to St.Marys Madison for further testing.
After many tests, labs, scans, bone marrow biopsy, we all were in shock finding out his diagnosis of Leukemia with Richters transformation and lymphoma, this is rare mutation of the leukemia. It is amazing how a life can change overnight.
Since being diagnosed he has spent a majority of his time in the hospital, with blood infections, falls and fevers. When he isn't in the hospital he is back and forth to get daily labs done. Then usually back later that day for blood or platelet transfusions that can take hours. He also has a very strict diet to follow, and complicated medication schedule.
He is currently receiving chemo and going on his 4th round. There are still so many questions and unknowns about his cancer.
He is out of work for an unknown amount of time, so we are asking for any help to help him get through these challenging times, of flooding medical bills and medication expenses.
He is facing a hard fight, and we are all here to support him, any help we will be greatly appreciated.
