On Tuesday the 13th of January, Joel was riding his motorcycle when he was struck by a car. He suffered many substantial injuries including brain bleeds causing damage to the central nervous system, subdural hematoma, shattered femur, broken foot, multiple compound fractures, dislocated wrist, broken arm & hand aswell as nerve and muscle damage and complete, permanant loss of feeling and movement in his right arm and hand. He has undergone 2 surgeries so far to replace the bones in his arm and leg with steel rods. He has since been transferred to a nursing home to begin his rehabillitation process. Joel has a 4 year old daughter, and a loving girlfriend who is 5 months pregnant with their son. Due to his injuries he will not be able to work leaving a very pregnant Crystal with financial hardship. This beautiful little family is going to need all the support they can get in the coming months while Joel recovers and they bring their little man into this world. Any amount that you can spare will be will make a huge difference in the lives of this family. Please keep Joel, Crystal, Aj and baby Greyson in your thoughts and prayers.+ Read More
First of all, I want to say thank you to those of you who have given money, kind words and prayer. I don't think any of us can even begin to express our gratitude. Crystal and I went through all of the bills and paperwork last night and were overwhelmed with the amount that is due to be payed with bills still coming in. The majority of the money already raised is going directly to bills which is an amazing and unbelievable help. However it doesn't leave much to live on, as Joel is on minimal disability payments and crystal is on UNPAID carers leave. I am asking if you can donate any amount to this family please do so. They are really drowning financially and need all the help they can get. Crystal is experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort due to high stress which is making her pregnancy really difficult as well so please keep praying for both her and Joel. Again thank you so much I can't even begin to thank you enough.
Update: Joel is at home now and has been experiencing a lot intense debilitating pain in his right arm causing him to be unable to do anything but lay in bed screaming. Crystal, Luke and I took him back to a pain specialist yesterday who prescribed him a fentanyl patch in addition to the other array of pain killers that he is already on. We were told that if the fentanyl patch didn't relieve the pain that we should take him directly to the emergency room. Thankfully so far, today he seems a lot better, still experiencing some pain but no where near what it was earlier. Please continue to pray for Joel, and for Crystal and this family.
Joel was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital yesterday and got to feel his baby boy kick for the first time. Thank you God. Please keep Joel in your prayers. More updates to come.
Joel's memories and speech are both doing very well, although he has moments of confusion and is still quite frustrated. He was able to get into a wheel chair and leave the hospital room for a little while today. These daily victories continue thank god. It's looking like he might be transferred to a rehabilitation hospital in the next couple of days. Most importantly, Joel finally got those donuts he keeps asking for...
