The Jenterprise: Science on wheels!

This project is a proclamation of my love for Science and my contribution to a future in which Science and Wonder are nurtured in the hearts and minds of the curious.
Titled "The Jenterprise" this project involves converting and old school bus into a mobile science vessel capable of traveling the highways and byways of this country, from schoolyards to campgrounds, so I may share my love for science, creativity and celebrate curiosity with those around me.
My background is in evolutionary botany, but there is so much to love in the sciences that I can't pick a favorite area. I watch with sorrow as the age of the polymath declines and multidisciplinary education gives way to niche specialization which, though important, faces challenges when it comes to nurturing curiosity. With a mobile science-guided home I intend to travel the country experiencing and sharing the wonders of the world around us. I envision sharing astronomy investigation from the darkest place in Iowa, mycology from the mouth of a Missouri cave, entomology from the tops of California's red woods, marine biology from the shores of Maine, and so much more!
I have started the conversion already (you can see some videos of the project so far in the G+ collection or YouTube channel) but there is so much I need to make this vision a reality. Funds raised here will first go towards the conversion covering things like construction materials, plumbing, and solar to run microscopes and computers. After construction costs are covered and completed money will go to science supplies and travel costs. There will be free access to microscopy images and training materials created!
I would be deeply humbled to have your support in this project! Not only will you be changing my life but the lives of all those touched by the journey to come!
