Kenya Mission Trip-Jennifer Felton

Kenya is a world that is completely different from ours in many ways. Life is extremely difficult for most of the people due to the AIDS pandemic, drought, and famine. It is a struggle to survive and many people are literally starving to death on a daily basis. Orphaned children are left behind to survive on their own.
I have felt an extremely strong calling to go on a mission trip for as long as I can remember. The time is now right, God gives me every indication of this. So, I am writing to share with you an exciting yet challenging ministry opportunity I have this October. I will be going on a mission trip to Kenya! I hope this will be a life changing experience for the people that I come in contact with -and I know it will be for me.
October 17th - 28th, I will be joining 10 others who are going with a non-profit organization called SERV International. This organization was founded in 2000 and has been working in Kenya for over seven years. Over the course of time, they have established relationships with reliable and trustworthy native Kenyans as well as other U.S. missionaries that are faithfully serving there.
The focus of our mission trip in Kenya is to serve God by reaching children and their families. Our team will travel to remote villages and slum areas in order to give much needed food relief to impoverished people. Once we have met their physical needs, we will have a platform to share the transforming hope of Christ with them.
We will also be visiting SERV’s orphanage in Lodwar, Kenya. There is a huge orphan population in the northwestern region of the country and SERV International rescues children from a life on the streets and in remote villages and brings them to their orphanage, House of Hope. We will be spending time loving on these precious children, showing them they are part of the family of God. We will work on a remodeling project at the orphanage as well. If we can help strengthen and encourage the orphanage staff, then they will be better equipped to carry on their good work when we leave.
I’m excited about the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead. I hope you see the value in what we will accomplish. As you can imagine, a trip like this requires support from a number of people. I am asking for financial support and equally, if not more importantly, prayer support. Prayer is the fuel that will allow us to be successful as we follow God’s leading in our ministry in Kenya. Without prayer, little, or nothing will happen.
In order to go on this mission trip, I need to raise $4,000 as soon as possible but no later than October, 1. Please prayerfully consider making a contribution in any amount you choose. If you are unable to contribute financially, your prayers and encouragement are also greatly appreciated.
