Medical Crisis and Loss of Income

Hi,

My name is Jeff Tilton, and my wife's name is Tracy. We live in Freedom, New Hampshire.
Tracy is one of those fortunate people who has never had any serious health problems, and I basically only had to deal with Type II Diabetes.  You've heard the saying, "The higher you climb, the harder you fall", right?  So very true.   Things changed for us, and changed very quickly ....

Asking for help is incredibly difficult for me to do, but our current circumstances have left me with no choice, and I have had several people tell me that I should post this.  The following is our story; a series of almost unbelievable events that when combined has placed us very close to losing everything!  It's feels odd to look at the photo we posted on here;  we were happy, and everything was going fine, only to have it all fall apart a few short months later.

To start;  I had a very good job in manufacturing.  A job that I was absolutely sure I would be retiring from (I’m closing in on 55).  Well, this didn’t work out as expected.  After five years, I suddenly developed what is known as Occupational Asthma.  I was reacting to something in the plant, but couldn’t nail it down.  I ended up having to leave my job.  I started a search for a new job, but I was also having other health problems with muscle weakness/cramping/spasms, as well as increasing cognitive problems;  memory, misspelling words, searching for words, and confusion.  Headaches are almost constant.  I had an MRI and found out a few days before this past Christmas that I have a brain tumor.  Okay, well that sure complicated my job search, but that’s not the end of the story.  Two days later, Tracy was told that she has Thyroid cancer!

I am currently waiting to see a Neurosurgeon, so I really don't have any details yet.  Tracy is scheduled to have surgery on the 22nd of this month (January).  I have no idea how long it will take to get my health issues taken care of, and it could be a “wait and watch” situation, but it’s safe to say that I won’t be returning to work for a while, and Tracy will have to take at least a week off from work.

We have been selling personal items, and have completely finished off any savings we had, but you do what is necessary to get by.  Like so many others, we never thought we would be in a situation like this. As you probably know, there will be ongoing expenses for some time to come. We have no idea what the out-of-pocket expenses will be for Tracy's surgery and followup care, but appointments require  a two hour drive (round trip). My appointments require a three and a half hour (round trip) drive. Needless to say, the stress is overwhelming!

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Anything will help, even if you can only share this page!
Thank you, and may God Bless you all!
