Help Jeff & Kate Fight Lyme Disease
I probably would never have done a GoFundMe, but my dear friend Connie has started a fundraising campaign on our behalf to help us raise the funds to cover our family's rising medical costs and she asked me to set up a way for people to donate online. I am so humbled and thankful for her help!
Though we are hugely grateful to finally have a diagnosis, we were also hit with the overwhelming news that I too probably had Lyme as well as our whole family. The doctor said it was critical that I treat as well, so as not to pass it back to Jeff. He explained that Lyme and it's co-infections can be passed on through childbirth, intimacy or blood on blood. Sadly, everyone tested in the family so far has confirmed the Dr.'s prognosis - we all have Lyme and different variations of the co-infections which include Babesia, Bartinella and Ehrlichia.
With your help, the money we raise will go to help cover our entire family's medical out of pocket costs. This includes co-pays and all medical bills and procedures not covered by our health insurance. The most heartbreaking part of all this is that we don't have the funds to help our kids walk through this. Yet, the sooner they treat, the less invasive it will be. We ARE seeing a slow and steady improvement in Jeff since January so we know we are finally on the right track and working with the right medical team.
Thank you all for your support...I can't begin to tell you what this will mean for our family to be able to do whatever it takes to heal from this insidious disease.
We are also needing to replace our temporary crowns (4 for Jeff, 1 for me) which is another $6,000. We have set aside gifts for this but we are a good $5,000 short. Our dental insurance will cover half of 1 per year (starting in September)and he cannot risk delaying this any longer. Hoping that I can...I'll find out next week...
Thank you for your continued prayer and support in all this! We wish more than anything that we could say we're done...and call it " finished" and close this out. All I can say is that we are more grateful than you could ever know...
We will start with Jeff’s hip replacement and move on to both knees. Jeff’s pain has been so severe at times that it is inhibiting any further progress with the Babesia.
Pray that we are able to get in for a consult before the end of the year and that’s Jeff’s health will sustain him through the surgeries. Pray also that we are able and covered with insurance to go with our PT’s first recommendation. As always, any contribution toward our GoFundMe goes completely toward medical and co-pays. So grateful for each and every one of you for your faithful prayers for us!
Again, thank you for partnering with us. I know Jeff wouldn't be here if we didn't have you and for that, we are eternally grateful!

We were hoping to wrap up with our specialist in Seattle, but after our recent visit, we both felt that God was not releasing us yet. We are trying to pull back though due to cost and he has been understanding and creating our new protocols with that in mind. Another prayer is that, while the number of things we need to take has been reduced, I need to give Jeff shots twice a week - trying to step up to the plate and be faithful with this. I cried doing it up and down his spine at the clinic, but the injections pass the blood brain barrier to the brain making it more successful. He has been doing Neurofeedback which has been helpful and now adding a few other things that help to open his brain to recieve the different treatments more effectively. God has continued to give us favor with providers who are doing things at a reduced cost locally, which is amazing!
Finally, with the cognitive improvements, Jeff is now aware just how far gone he was, and emotionally it's been hard. He's been a real example of trusting God and learning to give himself grace in the process with continual improvement daily!
So grateful for each of you that have walked with us in the journey.

How much are the IV's and how often does he get them? And what is the cost per Lyme treatment and how often?
I believe I speak for all your friends/family when I say we want to know the news, good or bad, so we know how to pray. May God bless you richly during this time of suffering. Love and hugs. Meade and Bob
