Jayson Wortham's Healing Fund

$19,468 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 171 people in 8 months
Jayson Wortham was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, in April 2018. This news came after a series of trials in his physical health that left him unable to work and thrive for the better part of the past year. The doctor who suggested that he have a biopsy was the fourth doctor he went to, but it took a leap of faith with a fifth doctor (holistic medical practitioner, Dr. John Gonino DO) to discover that Jayson was also battling a systemic candida infection, mold exposure, and a severely weakened immune system.

After the passing of his lovely mother in 2014 and his dear father this spring (both from cancer), Jayson's chosen to forgo conventional cancer treatments and pursue alternative therapies to the fullest extent. His treatments at the Gonino Wellness Center (in Heath, TX) are already creating miracles in strengthening his immune system, but Dr. Gonino is not in-network for Jayson's health insurance, and the alternative treatments and supplements required for Jayson to heal aren’t covered by insurance.

Unfortunately, Jayson and Memory's studio basement in their home was discovered to be the source of the mold exposure that contributed to the weakening of Jayson's immune system. Part of the money they’re able to raise will fund the full removal of the mold and restoration of the damaged construction in their studio, as well as correcting the erosion and water run-off that caused the damage.

Memory has been staying home with their two youngest children (Eva, age 12, and Elle Louise, age 4) for the last few years and helping to sell Jayson's beautiful paintings.  Now that Jayson's unable to work and Memory's taken on the job of helping to heal his illness, she's spending countless hours each day on kitchen, nurse, and mama duty, leaving little time to work regularly enough to sustain them through the coming year.

It's Jayson and Memory’s highest intention and fondest wish to focus every ounce of their energy on building Jayson's health to a newfound height AND restoring their home to a much more pristine (and much less humid) state of glory. Jayson is 100% invested in a mind-body-spirit transformation, acting with full faith that he can heal his body and achieve glowing health for all the days of his beautiful life.

Please help Jayson have access to anything and everything he truly needs  by making a donation of $5 or more to Jayson Wortham's Healing Fund.

You can also CLICK THE HEART at the top right corner of the image of our fundraiser home page to receive email updates on Jayson's healing progress.

Thank you so much for your help and your continued prayers! Light and LOVE to you all!

Happy 47th Birthday to my sweetie Jayson, Sweet Wortham, J Lloyd, the One and Only!

PLEASE HELP US make it SO SPECIAL for him by SHARING this message, and make sure to read below for an update on how’s he’s been…

As a gift in honor of Jayson’s special day, we’re asking for YOUR PARTICIPATION. The names of all those who participate will be entered in a DRAWING TO WIN THIS BEAUTIFUL PAINTING by Jayson!

Do you have a really good story about Jayson that you can share with us here on Facebook?

Do you have a great picture of Jayson that more people need to see?

...OR have you been considering contributing to his campaign, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet?

If you have a good story or a photo, PLEASE SHARE IT ON Facebook by Sunday, March 17 at 5:00pm CST, and don’t forget to tag me in it! All stories and photos will be shared on my timeline.

ALSO, anyone who makes a CONTRIBUTION OF $47 or more to Jayson’s GoFundMe campaign before Sunday 3/17 (@ 5:00pm CST) will ALSO be entered in the drawing.

Jayson’s had a rough year so far, to say the least, and the latest challenge with the ascites/swelling has been especially disheartening because it’s been so physically disabling. At this time, he can’t move well enough to stand, sit, or lay down without assistance. Once he’s up, he can walk a little on his own, but isn’t able to stay upright for more than half an hour or so without experiencing even more discomfort and swelling. He’s still having a lot of difficulty breathing and eating/drinking as much as he’d like to, but his appetite is still very healthy, which is a great sign.

He’s going to physical therapy for the lymphedema and we’ve tried several other things that have helped some, but we’ve yet to find the magical combo of treatments, therapies, and occupational modifications that will make him functional once again.

For now, it goes without saying that I intend to continue staying home with him and doing everything I can to assist him. That means that we’ll be stepping it up with the fundraising in the coming months, doing everything we can to stay afloat while I’m taking this time to give Jayson every chance in the world to survive and thrive.

So if you have a story or photos to share, please help us in gathering these mementos of Jayson’s beautiful life as it’s unfolded thus far. And if you’re able to make a contribution to his GoFundMe, that would be so incredibly appreciated. All of it will mean the world to him. Thank you so much!!!

Love and Light to You All,
Memory (and Jayson) Wortham

Dear Friends and Family~

Because of how much I know you all love Jayson, I wanted to make sure you all heard about the chance to get HIS NEW RECORD that was put out by our dear friend, Chris Plavidal (along with the help of several other amazing people).

It’s a limited edition GOLD vinyl 7-inch that includes a digital download of the two songs on the record PLUS another 4 songs. It sounds great! The album artwork was illustrated by me, but Jayson’s the one to credit for the excellent art direction. :)

You can pre-order the record and download the first song at the link below. The digital album releases on March 18, 2019, and the record ships out around March 21, 2019. THERE WILL ONLY BE 500 RECORDS PRESSED, so make sure to get it while the gettin’s good!

Most importantly…I don’t know if I’ve told you all enough- but I REALLY appreciate that you’re here. This whole thing would not be possible without you. This healing journey was begun on nothing but faith and our fundraising campaign was just a shot in the dark…but it’s your presence and support that inspires us to keep going even when it’s hard to let ourselves be seen, to share our struggles, and to openly ask for the prayers and assistance that we so sincerely need.

Let’s keep working to bring Jayson back into the world!

Hello again, Lovely Supporters!
SO many of you have contributed to our cause and shared your prayers. It’s made a HUGE difference in our lives recently and we can’t thank you enough. It’s been an especially trying time in our journey and I know you’ve been concerned, so PLEASE forgive me for the delay in keeping you all updated and feeling appreciated. I’m doing my best to get caught up on my thank-you notes amidst the many hours of kitchen and nursing duty. It’s been SO nonstop!

Jayson was in the hospital for about a week and came home in an incredibly depleted state (both physically and mentally) after being bedridden and unable to keep up with his usual healing regimen for so many days. It was really scary for all of us, but I’m SO happy to say that he started showing major improvement within a few days and has been feeling a lot better overall. He now has an oxygen machine at home and a port that allows him to relieve any fluid retention, so we can rest knowing that he’ll be able to breathe easily without having to be admitted to the hospital again.

The best thing is that his appetite has been SO excellent and he can consume A LOT more food and fluids than he could before he went in to the hospital. He doesn’t eat quite as much as I can, but he eats three times as much as our five-year-old, and his diet is incredibly nutritious, so that’s definitely saying something. He has a lot more color in his face and just seems so much more like himself these days. I seriously think he deserves some kind of award for having such a good attitude over the whole thing. The mental battle is SUCH a HUGE part of it! He's staying dedicated to his practice of mindfulness and meditation, and he’s doing a truly amazing job of keeping his head straight.

The ascites/fluid retention in his abdomen is WAY down (about 1/10 of what it was), but unfortunately, he has some blocked lymph nodes that are causing even heavier swelling in his legs. That means that he’s having a really hard time getting around right now and his needs for assistance are much more intensive than they’ve been in the past, so we’re thinking that he’ll very likely need to have physical therapy for lymphedema,. However, Medical City Hospital (where he stayed and where his oncologist’s office is) has an excellent rehab clinic that’s geared towards cancer patients. We’re not sure yet when they could get him in, but according to everything I’ve read about lymphedema treatment, we’re feeling very hopeful about the relief that physical therapy could bring.

The experience we’ve had in the last couple of months wasn’t what we wanted at all, but like a lot of difficult life experiences, it’s brought us so much clarity and focus. We’re feeling more convinced than ever of our decision to support Jayson in his long-term health and, as much as possible, let his body heal in the way it’s designed to heal. While the medical assistance he received in the hospital was excellent and desperately needed, the contrast between the clinical, cold hospital environment and the healing space that we’ve created for him at home was mind-blowing. In the last day or two of his hospitalization, it felt like he was hanging on to his life force by a thread, but within 24 hours at home, he was smiling again. After just two or three days of having freshly pressed juices (thanks to the wonderfully magical juicer we received from Jayson’s cousin, Eric Riley) and tons of organic high-vibration foods, the light came back to his eyes and he was talking again about plans for the future.

All this to say…natural healing REALLY WORKS, but nothing heals the body and spirit quite as much as LOVE and HOPE. With this in mind, please take a moment to envision Jayson as his Highest Self, writing songs and creating art, his body athletic, strong and sturdy, and his happy face shining in the sun. Hold that image of him in your hearts and minds and send it out to the stars with the expectation of countless miracles showing up in his life. If our intentions have anything to do with our results (and some say that it has EVERYthing to do with our results), Jayson's going to live a long, full, exceptionally good life.

Thank you again for your love and support!

With Love and Light,
Memory (and Jayson)

Dear Family & Friends~

As of this week, nine months have passed since Jayson’s cancer diagnosis, but he unfortunately has to celebrate this anniversary at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. :(
We’ve had a good run so far with no overnight hospital stays, but Jayson’s ongoing swelling and difficulty breathing made his oncologist decide to have him admitted for a paracentesis (removing fluid from around his lungs) and to keep an eye on him until his oxygen levels return to normal. Jayson’s already able to breathe so much more easily and he finally has enough room in his belly to eat and drink as much as he wants to, which is SO wonderful since his medicine IS his food.
This swelling (called ascites: caused by low albumin, which is caused by chronic inflammation) has been so challenging partly because Jayson's stomach has been so overcrowded, he hasn’t been able to keep up with his diet and supplements regimen. The nutritional needs in fighting cancer are so enormous, so his diet has to be so specialized and eaten VERY consistently. He has to take in huge amounts of nutrients just to maintain his weight and the dozens of supplements he’s taking require drinking huge amounts of water. His albumin levels are still very low and his inflammation is high, but we know that he can get that under control if he’s just able to eat, drink, and take the supplements he needs. This is our fondest wish!

I’m able to stay at the hospital with Jayson during the day thanks to Jayson’s sweet sisters, Jonna Thixton and Lesli Bruce, who are taking care of the girls for us. We hope that Jayson will be able to head back home very, very soon, but we’ll make sure to let you know if he has to extend his stay and start accepting visitors.

Please keep us in your hearts and minds as we hope for the absolute best outcome in this leg of the journey. Thank you, loved ones, for always being there for us! We’ll be in touch soon~
