Jason Carrell Memorial Fund

Hello, my name is is Bryan Gross and I grew up in Freehold, New Jersey.  During my time in elementary, middle and high school I particpated in classes and after school actvities with Jason Carrell.   There was a group of passionate NY Ranger fans in our town, and we enjoyed watching games together when we could and generally  taunting our rival Islander and Devil fans in the hallways.  The benfits of growing up in a passionate sports town for sure!

As is the case with many people who grow up togetehr, Jason and I did not stay in touch after high school.  A few years ago we reconnected via Facebook and it was nice to see how well he was doing both personally and professionally.  He was a person who seemed to be living life to the fullest, seeming extrely fulfilled with his new roled as a father.

When JAson suddenly and unexpectedly passed away last month from a massive heart attack at the very young age of 40, like all of us, I was completly stunned!  He left behind his wife and two young sons, all of whom he so clearly loved very much.  Jason was always an extremely kind and caring person who went out of his way to help those in need.

So how did I become involved with the GoFundMe account?

A few years ago I was involved in organizing the Freehold Township High School Class of 1995 twenty year renunion.  We started a private Facebook group to organize the event.  When I heard of Jason's shocking passing, I posted on the private group asking if anyone wanted to make a small contribution to send Jason's family a gift basket.  It immediatly became apparent that the interet was really strong to do something bigger in Jason's honor, so I started this GoFundMe page (at first to be used to simply collect funds from our private Facebook group.  On a whim, I decided to share the GoFundMe campaign page publicly on Facebook to see what would happen. From there, things took off instantly and the response has been nothing short of amazing!

Shortly after that I connected with Jason's closest friends and was introdcued to Scott Perotti, a person who is currently working to help Beth Carrel and her family cope during this very difficult time.  I also learned, as many of you I am sure realize, that Jason's untimely death left many planned and unplanned expesenses on Beth's plate.  Daily living expenses, funeral expenses, and insurance costs are just a few examples.  It was determined that the best course of action would be to appoint Scott Perotti the acocunt administartor so he can disburse funds directly to Beth to be used for a wide variety of expenses related to keeping their houshold running, which includes daily support for their two young children.  I have no access to any of these funds.  It is only Scott who can access these funds and give them directly to Beth.

No one could have imagined the generosity that has continued both on and off this site.  Thank you so very much!  Please feel free to post on this page if you have any additional questions or comments.  For all of us, no matter how involved we were in Jason's everyday life, retunring back to our daily routines will be easier than it will be for Beth.

It would be wonderful if we could continue to try to sperad the word of Jason's positive to raise money for Beth and her two young children.

Thank you again so very much!!
