We need your help!
We are Emily and Jason
and we need your help in raising money to pursue a dream: running in a marathon for a charity we love, Touched By Olivia . It’s not just any marathon. But the New York City Marathon. With Jason running and Emily as a supporter, this is a once in a life time opportunity we don’t want to let slip by. We’ve never been outside of Australia, and in 11 years we have had only one night away together without our 3 kids.
Why? Since the birth of our second daughter Maia, things completely changed.
The first words we heard after her birth were “she’s very interesting”. They were right, she was interesting, but in a way they never presumed. Through the testing, operations, therapies and sleepless nights, she made our lives better in more ways we can express. But it’s come at a cost.
We struggle to save any money, with Maia’s therapy and respite care taking top priority.
So we’re reaching out into the big wide world to ask for help. We’ve sold personal items, borrowed money to cover our deposit (which we want to pay back), but covering all other costs of the trip is incredibly daunting.
By assisting us you can help us cover some of the costs involved with making our dream a reality - race entry package, running gear, travel visa’s and passports, insurance, flights, accommodation; and ensuring our parents are supported in caring for our kids while we’re gone with respite care assistance, home food costs and covering bills.
If our campaign is successful, any excess money raised over our trip costs will go towards additional speech therapy sessions for Maia. Nothing will go to waste.
