November 15, 2016 update:

So a big update is in order, Janet and Eric got married on October 2, 2016! While the forecast predicted rain it held off for them as they got married outside as the sun shone through. As they spoke the vows they had written to each other, you could truly feel they meant each and every word uttered especially after the year they have had together.

That’s why this update is so heartbreaking to write after listening to the promises they made to each other. Janet had her second surgery in July for the reversal of the ostomy bag. Surgery went as smoothly as it could of. Janet was healthy enough to return to work and ready to put all of this behind her. Things were starting to look up for her, a wedding to plan and both her baby’s birthdays on the horizon.

Janet had a follow up scan in July and a shadow was discovered on her liver. After another scan by her oncologist the shadow has been confirmed as a cancerous tumor. It breaks my heart to inform everyone that Janet is facing a third surgery and another battle on her hands. She met with her surgeon this morning and she will be receiving her surgery date in the next couple days. After surgery Janet will likely have to go through chemotherapy again. As Janet did not do well with the chemo last time it is highly probable that it will be the same again. Janet’s medical team are currently looking into alternative chemo treatments for her.

Once again we ask please help alleviate the financial burden on this sweet family with a donation. I know it’s a tight time of year for many but your blessings and donations are worth more than we can ever comprehend to this family. All donations will be going towards the cost of treatments Janet chooses to do and as income replacement as she has now had to leave work again. Your donations and kind words are needed more than ever to Janet and her family. We are all praying that Janet battles her way through this and can continue on with her life with her amazing husband and wonderful children.

Thank you for all your generosity!

On November 20, 2015 at the young age of just 29, Janet was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Janet has a young family with two sweet little boys, Duncan, age 3 and Camden, age 1, and a common law husband, Eric.

She has had to stop working just before Christmas due to the pain and distress the tumor was causing her.

Cancer treatments and surgery to remove the tumour from her colon are required. Janet's surgery date is scheduled for February 3rd, 2016 . After her surgery Janet will be left unable to work for months as she recovers. Even after a successful treatment and surgery Janet will still need to go through recovery.

While waiting for her surgery she has been seeing a Naturopathic Oncologist. The treatments he has suggested and the supplement regime has significantly helped Janet with a lot of the symptoms and potentially could save her from having the harsh treatments of radiation and chemotherapy.

Unfortunately the timing of the diagnoses has come at an extremely difficult time financially for her young family. They were just scraping by with her working. Without her being able to work now and after surgery and possibly through her 6 months of chemotherapy they are very unsure of what the future will bring.

There is no financial assistance available to them as Janet doesn't qualify for EI due to recently finishing maternity leave. Unfortunately, there is no further funding available to cancer patients in Alberta.

Janet continues to inspire all who know her with her strength and upbeat attitude. We hope to make things easier and less stressful for her, Eric and their two little boys during this trying time.

Please help with a generous donation to this young family.

If you are unable to make a financial donation, please take the time to say a prayer of hope for this young mother and her family.
