Help Jan travel to perform in AZ
The Canyon Lands of Arizona are calling to Jan's flutes!
Hi, I'm Jan. A performing artist, I play flutes from different parts of the world with a focus on Native American style flutes. I'm known as the first woman, ever, to perform and record flutes in the style of the ancient Anasazi people's flutes. Arizona is where some of the first Anasazi flutes were found, so it's particularly meaningful for my flutes to sing at this event.
So what's the event and why do I need help traveling there?
It's the 2015 RNAFF's The Gathering. The Renaissance of the Native American Flute Foundation is an educational organization seeking to research and preserve the history and stories of North American flutes. As a nonprofit, RNAFF does not compensate performers for their concerts but does provide us with lodging and meals during the event.
Held in Flagstaff, AZ this year's RNAFF Gathering will be spectacular.
The focus of my music is healing. Through music and vibration I support people and organizations on their healing paths. Vibrations can help us transform ourselves and our worlds by raising our consciousness to ever higher and more loving levels. The beauty and power of my work have been acknowledged in many ways: several music awards and nominations, 1st place winner of a national flute competition, a grant from the Ford Foundation to compose, perform and produce the soundtrack for the Chickasaw Indian play, Te Ata, at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, a 5-minute segment on CNN TV, and more... you can read more details about my work on my website, JanSeiden
A few years ago in 2010 I suffered some bad injuries which prevented me from working for about 3 years. Since that time I've been making a valiant come-back with the support of some very loving people in my life. Regardless of your level of donation, I am grateful to you for your support.
My travel expenses between Baltimore, MD and Flagstaff, AZ are estimated at $725 (airfare, car rental, gasoline, airport parking). This takes into account fundraising fees of about 8%.
