James' Medical Expenses Fund

Donation protected
On Monday March 2nd, my brother, James Jefferson, Jr., was taken to the emergency room at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was complaining of exhaustion, a woozy feeling, dry mouth, and having to urinate constantly. After a vitals test, doctors found that his blood sugars were over 1000 mg/dL. A healthy blood sugar range is between 70-100mg/dL. He was immediately admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a condition called Diabetic Ketoacidosis .

Though we believe in God’s perfect timing, this hospitalization comes just one month after James was laid off from his job at Wells Fargo. He lost income and the health benefits that would have been so helpful though this process.

Every day brings new blessings, but new challenges:

·         James is now a Type 2 diabetic. He will require insulin shots to control his diabetes. He remains in the hospital now, where doctors are trying to assess just how much of this medication he will need. He has also been put on a pill medication, metformin, to help control his diabetes.

·         James also has high blood pressure. This is hereditary and runs in our family. I have it, my father has it, and our late mother had it as well. A blood pressure pill is necessary to control this.

·         James also has high cholesterol and will have to take a cholesterol pill after leaving the hospital.

The staff at St. Luke’s has been amazing and they are working with my brother to prescribe low-cost, affordable medications once he leaves the hospital.

But these costs are still high for someone without insurance and employment.

Our goal for this campaign is to raise enough money to cover his expenses for at least the next few months. We hope to give James time to totally recover & seek new employment without the added pressure of worrying about paying for his medications and medical equipment.  All money raised here will be used for medicine to treat each diagnosis - diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

My wife and I plan to post updates here of James’ progress and recovery. He has come far since he was first admitted. Already he is back on full solid meals and took a walk around the ICU before being transferred to a regular hospital room.

Your contribution will mean so much to him, not just financially, but to boost his spirits, as well.

Thank you in advance for anything you give!
