Jacie's Recovery

Donation protected
Even working non stop towards my goals I have found a lack of resources and wall of financial struggles. So I am asking for help. I am a transgender woman who was beaten so badly after coming out in 2014 to friends and family by coworkers that I suffered fractures in my skull, a shattered eye socket, and two breaks in my nose.

Attached below is a link to my story in The Huffington Post, a Bustle Documentary about what happened to me and the speech I gave at The Women's March. These injuries have left me with long-term effects. Including severe allergies and a collapsed septum that requires surgery to allow me to breathe properly.

I am raising money to repair my nose and have a medical procedure that will allow me to stop taking medications. Since the incident, I have moved north and began a new life. One driven by positivity and the drive to accomplish everything that I can along the way. I have taken up running and become a pretty skilled Transgender Athlete. I just ran my first 26.2 mile marathon and have now set my sights on an Ultra Marathon. As a distance runner, I struggle with limitations set by my breathing. But that does not stop me! However, it would be a great improvement to be able to breathe properly during events or even training. Aside from working two jobs to cover the cost of living and medical expenses related to my condition I also volunteer free time to work with LGBTQ people in need and speak to groups raising awareness of Transgender Women and the violence we face.

My life changed so much on December 21st, 2014. It took me a year to realize all of the change and the work ahead of us. I am asking for your help to be able to accomplish my goals in life and continue the work I do for the community as a whole and healthy woman. With all of the same advantages as everybody else.

If I can raise even a fraction of my goal. I know that my hard work and dedication will allow me to raise the rest. Any donations I receive will help me to rebuild my life and help others. Even if you can not donate sharing increases my chances of reaching my goal and helps me to get this information out there that may help change discrimination laws and save lives. Please share and retweet keep this moving.  Thank you so much for all the help and support you have shown me.
