Irma Destroyed our Dog Shelter in Central Florida the
Highlands County Humane Society and Animal Services. We have rescued 75 dogs and we have no more room to take any more. We are overloaded over worked and the flood has ruined our yearly fundraiser which makes up the bulk of our funding.

Your donation will be used for First Responder emergency needs until the area can be stabilized. They have to be addressed immediately. We must
1. fix fences
2. build temporary shelters,
3. rent generators,
4. secure clean drinking water,
5. administer veternairy triage,
6. transportation.
7. distribute food to pet owners in the community
8. identify the dogs and cats that are adoptable and have them ready to be picked up by rescue groups,
9. We need to kiss some puppies, comfort shaking seniors and stroke nervous cats.

My name is Karina Holosko-Hall and for the past 5 years I have been using my own time and resources to further my vision.
I am a Boots-0n the Ground activist and work in rural areas forgotten by mainstream shelter groups.
My proactive work has been featured in the 2017 Xmas issue of Bark Magazine and in PAWS Magazine for my work in Tennessee as well as newpapers in NYC; Our Town, East Side Spirit, and OT Downtowner. I am asking for your help to further my vision. Together we can move faster and more effectively.

Below: Puppies left in garbage bins picked up by the Sheriff's department. These were the lucky ones. They were traumatized with hypothermia and in shock.

Right now in Central Florida we are receiving up to 100 animals a week. After the Florida Keys this area was hit the hardest. We have been declared a Federal Disaster Zone and because of our remote location FEMA has not yet reached us.
Over the past year I have developed solid relationships within the community. Ironically just before Irma hit I was able to secure 6000lbs of dog food from Texas. This was enough to feed 30 dogs a day for 6 months working with Animal Control and Rescue Bank to transport and distribute. I have received a written commendation from the local Sherrifs Office.

This little puppy was found tied to a car. She had been left there for about 2 weeks . Someone cut her rope and let her take her chances. Now she is safe and sound !

We began receiveing dogs a weeks before the storm. Because of the overload we had to house them outside. You have to understand this is a rural area.

This little one was found drowning in a pond. She had been purposely blinded and is as sweet as a button. Puppy Mills blind female breeding dogs so they will not be motivated to escape. We are cleaning her up.

Ironically ,we built these kennels to temporarily house dogs from Texas. Had we received them, they would have died in the storm.

All the dogs were removed from this structure and are ok. As you can see we have to rebuild. That will take a lot of coordination and effort. That's where I come in.!

Shelter dogs are abused dogs and families deserve to know what they are getting into so everyone can have a good experience. Most rescue groups do not share my concerns.
I believe a dog should enhance your life . A dog adopted through me will bring joy and love and a hint of mischief to you and your family forever.
