In-depth study of 450 Tektites

Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Nicola Bellotti I was born and raised in Bellinzona, Cantone Ticino, Switzerland. After attending schools here in my city, I worked in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. When I returned home, after a few years spent working/studying in Mexico and India, I became interested in astronomy. Specifically since 2010 I deal with video monitoring of meteor swarms. This activity has also led me to be interested in meteorite impacts and related derivatives mineral . Within this activity, I have deepened a scientific research carried out in the seventies by the Zurich petrologist Kurt Bächtiger. Following the indications given by the aforementioned researcher, I have actually verified the reliability of his hypotheses. In the last eight years I have privately invested a lot of human and financial resources in order to verify Bächtiger's theories and now, as I can no longer invest any more money, I have decided to carry out this fundraising campaign in order to make it possible both the in-depth analysis of some minerals I found and the print of a scientific publication related to my research work.

This in the photo above are the 450 pieces tektites by me collected between 2016-17.

Also other alleged meteorite material has been collected.

A more in-depth study of these minerals is more than justified.

Details on the kind of research work done.

My research work was inspired by an article written in 1977 by the Zurich geologist Kurt Bächtiger. The aforementioned petrologist, following his research, had hypothesized the possible origin due to the impact of a large meteorite of the Tremorgio lake in Valle Leventina, Canton Ticino, Switzerland. Specifically, my research focused on the prediction at the time advanced by Bächtiger on the possible presence of meteoritic or melting or metamorphosed by impact origin minerals
in the sedimentary deposits of the Quaternary, present in the substratum of the Ticino valley bottom. During the first years of research, I was able to collect and document numerous physical evidences that suggest that in the last 130K – 90K years ago one or more meteorite impacts actually occurred on the Southern-Alpine sector. Starting from 2015, following the study of these evidences, I was able to discover and collect the presumed minerals of meteoric origin and its correlates  which the Zurich petrologist Bächtiger had hypothesized the existence. The research aimed at identifying meteoric minerals has also led me to make some archaeological discoveries; specifically I refer to my findings of an ax apparently manufactured with a Tecktite drop, dating back to the Middle or lower Paleolithic period. As a consequence of the observation and the study of these particular minerals and archaeological finds, I wrote an intermediate report regarding the entire research work. In addition I wrote a dozen articles on the subject. With the aim of summarizing my documentation as described above, I then proceeded with the printing in 5 copies of a book of about 130 pages.

Continuation and conclusion of the research work.

At present, what most need to confirm the authenticity of my scientific discoveries is a deeper analysis of the minerals I have collected. Since these are minerals of a certain rarity, my intention is to advance with the least invasive analyzes possible, in order to preserve their integrity. The study of such minerals by thin sections would be desirable but this method  would damage the beautiful samples by me collected. In addition the execution of thin sections due to the high number of samples would be enormously expensive. For this reason I have devised a system of analysis which, with less expense and with the absolute preservation of the samples, would give many indications and scientific confirmations of what I am argue in my research work. The results of these analyzes could definitively and officially confirm the success of that my  study.

Definitive printing for the publication of my research work.

The printing and the distribution of my research work on limiteds copy base, it is amed to divulgate my results in the cientific community.  The final version of the scientific publication that I am about to divulge will be mainly written in English but I intend to dedicate a part for translations .

This project is special because it would lead to a successful end a research job that I carried out passionately for about 8 years, using only my human and financial resources.

The completion of my research work, as well as confirming the theories postulated in the seventies by other researchers, would lead to a substantial change in the state of art in the Swiss geological and archaeological field.

I need support because the financial investment to complete my research work is beyond my resources and now I can not afford to spend any more money.

EVERY DONATION, EVEN THE SMALLEST, WILL BE WELCOME, I THANK YOU ALL
