Families of Imams Maulama and Thara

The Majlis As-Shura (Islamic Leadership Council) of NY is raising funds for the families of the two Imams (Maulama Akonjee and Thara Uddin) shot dead in Queens, NY on their return home after noon prayers at their mosque Masjid AlFuqan.
Community members have expressed their concerns that this violence in their neighborhood and directed towards the Muslim community at large is a direc t result of recent political rhetoric that has incited hate speech and violence.
Two families have lost their father, husband, brother, uncle, son and a whole community has lost two beloved Imams dedicated to serving their community. As you pray for this family and pressure for justice, also remember that the two families are in true need of financial support during this horrible time. Funeral expenses, rent, food, clothing, utilities, and other expenses still need to be paid for over the forseeable future.
The money collected will be divided equally between the families of Imam Maulama Akonjee and Imam Thara Uddin. There is an initial donation of $10,000 by the Islamic Leadership Council (Majlis As-Shura).
As Muslims, we believe that when we give charity, our reward is from Allah. The Muslim community needs to stand together against hate, and the families' grief will be assuaged by knowing that their material needs are taken care of. While Allah is the ultimate planner, no one is prepared for this, and if you can put yourself in the position of these families and donate $50 or $500 (or whatever amount fits your budget) dollars, this will go to the wives, sons and daughters to help them go from day to day, as they work through their grief.
