We Are Providing  Food, Water, Clothes & Supplies:
Hurricane Otto traveled across Costa Rica in Thanksgiving Day Nov 24th 2016 dumping up to a months worth of rain in just one day, overloading all the rivers and streams in the northern region of the country. After the storm relief efforts began immediately, we are seeing the entire Costa Rican society turning out to help their poor rural fellow citizens. The two towns of Upala & Los Chiles were devastated by Hurricane Otto.
We Are Providing Emergency Tent Shelters:
Many 1000's of homes were swept or completely destroyed away during the flooding that occurred during after Hurricane Otto's pass across northern Costa Rica, two towns were particularly hard hit, most of Upala & Los Chiles were destroyed and many people have lost everything and need emergency shelter. We are trying to provide these folks with a family shelter tent from tent manufacturer Vango Visit: www.Vango.co.uk Vango has been making tents and outdoor equipment for over 50 years.
We Are Restoring Damaged Homes
Some homes received minor or major damage, but they can be restored. Our teams are working with many at different locations to assess which homes can be repaired. The mud, water and debris needs to be removed and the wood must be thoroughly dried and treated for mold, before the reconstruction can begin. We work with teams of contractors to make sure the home get restored as quickly as possible.
We Are Building New Homes:
Many homes were completely destroyed in some case the entire home and contents were washed away. We are working to find suitable locations to rebuilt the homes away from future water flows.
