Long Prairie has a great story to be told. Funds raised will be used to create, purchase, and install brass plagues that tell the story at points of interest around town.
Long Prairie, MN holds a rich history and played an important roll in the early settlement and establishment of central Minnesota. 1854 saw the arrival of a government Indian Agency for the Winnebago's at what became Long Prairie, and at the time was larger and more populated than Minneapolis. When the Agency left, Long Prairie was resettled and by early pioneers, drawn to the area by beautiful lakes, abundant forests, and endless prairies. Entrepreneurship and a bustling Main Street made Long Prairie "Home" to countless hard working and friendly families.
