Hello ... Namaste ... Jai Shree Krishna ... 

Myself (Amit) and the resident Monk (Gurudasa) are volunteers at our local Hindu Mandir which is situated within Leicester City Centre.

We are also apart of a voluntary team of 10 who help run and manage the College of Vedic Studies (which operates on the 1st floor at the Iskcon Mandir).

The college initiative was set up 2 years ago to: -       promote our lost and forgotten ancient Hindu teachings,

-       facilitate a friendly environment to run philosophy discussions,
-       educate the community via formal courses run in spiritual matter from the Gita .

A couple of months ago a few children that visit the temple brought to our attention their desire to have a library area as they LOVE reading books, colouring/drawing and learning with their friends.  

As of this and on behalf of the children, the College of Vedic Studies team would like to approach the lovely Leicester community and kindly request a small donation so that we can put the proceeds towards build a small library area for the children.

Kids ..... It would be nice if the kids in our community had the ability to:

-       come together and have a new hobby,
-       socialize and make friends (your age),
-       read books together with their new friends and parents.
-       preserve the teachings and values as we did when growing up,
-       pass on ancient knowledge and wisdom to others

Parents ..... It would be nice if parents in our community had the ability to:
-        meet and socialise with likeminded families/parents, -        encourage the children to learn positive Dharmic/Hindu values via a fun learning medium,
-         visit the local Hindu temple and particupate in Indian culture/worship,
-         taste some delicious prasaad during your visit (Sundays),
-         organise story telling sessions with your children's friends and have fun Books ...

What will we buy ....
This December, the team will be visiting India and the funds of this campaign will be spent on various Hindu/Dharmic books all in English!

The kids have requested books that are:
-         colourfull,
-         fun to read,
-         in English,
-         Ancient stories covering: Bhagvad Gita, Ramayan, Krishna Bhagvan, Diwali, Holi, Bhagvatam etc ... -         colouring books,
-         puppets for story telling

Whats next? Please help the College of Vedic team in raising £1288 towards developing this Hindu Library project at the Iskcon Hindu mandir.

Once this initative is set up we will invite you to an open evening for you and your children to experience the books, a story telling session and enjoy some tasty Prasaad.
