I am fundraising for my sister, Candace, brother-in-law, Luke, and their three children, Anthony, 5, Savannah, 4, and Carlee, 1. Candace and her family have been struggling for some time but are now in total despair after losing their only means of transportation.
Luke was laid off indefinitely from a good paying job working for the state a couple years ago. Budgets were cut and, well, you know the story. After much seeking, he finally found a low wage job that was over 50mi round trip but it was a job. A few car repairs later, they were behind on bills and rent. Living paycheck to paycheck, they did what they could and signed up for a title loan. They got further in debt and were eventually evicted from their home because of this. A family member was gracious enough to let them stay in their home until they could get back on their feet.
That's when they were hit and run on their way home from picking up their son from school. Thankfully nobody was hurt in the crash but their van is a total loss. The driver of the other vehicle was caught but didn't have insurance. There is no way for them to re-coop any of money for damages and that van was their lifeline. Without it, they have no way of getting to work and bettering their lives.
Despite all the knocks, they stick together as a family. They are good people that just need a helping hand up and out of a messy situation. The money raised will go towards their basic needs of housing and a dependable vehicle. Thank you for your time and generosity!
